.%20I%20had%20%22burger%22%20on%20the%20brain%20and%20no%20means%20to%20satisfy%20the%20craving.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUntil%20I%20change%20my%20train%20of%20thought.%20I%20wiped%20the%20slate%20clean%20and%20looked%20at%20the%20situation%20from%20a%20different%20angle.%20Lets%20go%20with%20a%20vegetarian%20burger,%20I%20thought.%20Only%20I%20didn't%20have%20all%20those%20ingredients%20either.%20Ok...simplify,%20simplify.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELet's%20go%20even%20more%20basic.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EQuick%20internet%20search%20led%20me%20to%20a%20Rachael%20Ray%20recipe.%20As%20much%20as%20I%20have%20watched%20her...and%20I%20do%20like%20her.%20She%20has%20some%20great%20tips.%20I%20don't%20know%20if%20I've%20actually%20made%20any%20of%20her%20recipes.%20I%20may%20have...and%20I%20just%20can't%20remember.%20But%20this%20one....Vegetarian%20Chickpea%20Burgers%20happened%20to%20be%20very%20basic.%20Very%20do-able...and%20I%20had%20all%20of%20the%20ingredients.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20win,%20win%20situation%20if%20you%20ask%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20made%201...thats%20ONE%20change.%20Huge%20flavor%20difference%20though.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20something%20else%20to%20tell%20you%20about%20also....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20part%20of%20the%20Foodbuzz%20Tastemaker%20program,%20I%20received%20Nature's%20Pride%20Premium%20Harvest%20Hamburger%20Buns%20and%20Deli%20Rolls.%20They're%20the%20new%20addition%20to%20their%20line-up%20of%20100%25%20natural%20breads.%20I%20actually%20received%203%20varieties.%20This%20first%20variety%20is%20their%20100%25%20Whole%20Wheat%20Bakery%20Buns%20(aka...hamburger%20buns).%20After%20going%20over%20the%20ingredients%20in%20the%20buns,%20I%20discovered%20that%20the%20addition%20of%20%22sugar%22%20is%20the%206th%20ingredient.%20Which%20according%20to%20my%20youngest%20child,%20is%20a%20good%20thing.%20She%20tries%20to%20eat%20foods%20that%20have%20sugar%20as%20the%205th%20ingredient%20or%20later.%20Believe%20it%20or%20not...it's%20a%20little%20challenging%20to%20find%20bread%20that%20falls%20under%20her%20guidelines.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20buns%20are%20%22Heart%20Healthy%22%20and%20low%20in%20sodium.%20And%20they%20look%20fantastic!%20I%20mean...they%20have%20a%20deep%20rich%20%22wheat%22%20look....and%20an%20earthy%20grainy%20top%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20makes%20you%20feel%20all%20good%20and%20healthy%20just%20looking%20at%20them.%20And%20the%20flavor?%20Well...I'm%20not%20real%20hip%20on%20strong%20grain%20flavors.%20Most%20often%20they%20over%20power%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20ingredients....%20wether%20its%20in%20a%20sandwich%20or%20a%20simple%20slice%20of%20cinnamon%20toast.%20Well,%20let%20me%20tell%20you....that%20does%20not%20happen%20with%20these%20burger%20buns.%20They%20are%20mild%20and%20light.%20Perfect%20as%20a%20vehicle%20for%20lots%20of%20other%20good%20stuff%20while%20maintaining%20a%20high%20standard%20of%20healthy%20ingredients.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20that%20my%20friends...is%20my%20honest%20opinion.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESoo...let's%20get%20to%20the....non-burgers%20that%20made%20me%20want%20more.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChickpea%20Southwestern%20Burger%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20food%20processor,%20combine%20chickpeas,%20chilies%20and%20cilantro.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETransfer%20the%20mixture%20to%20a%20medium%20sized%20bowl.%20Add%20the%20bread%20crumbs%20and%20salt%20and%20pepper%20to%20taste.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20in%20the%20egg.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EForm%204%20patties%20that%20are%20about%201/2%22%20thick.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20a%20pan%20over%20medium-low%20heat.%20Add%20enough%20oil%20to%20coat%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20pan.%20Cook%20the%20patties%20for%20about%204%20minutes...flip%20and%20continue%20cooking%20for%20another%203%20-%204%20minutes.%20If%20you're%20going%20to%20add%20cheese,%20do%20so%20during%20the%20last%20minute%20of%20cooking.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow...I%20also%20sauteed%20some%20mushrooms,%20onion%20and%20bell%20pepper%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20also%20made%20up%20some%20%22mock%22%20aioli...I%20mixed%20about%201%20cup%20of%20mayonnaise%20with%201%20minced%20garlic,%20and%20used%20that%20as%20my%20burger%20spread....added%20some%20baby%20arugula.....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%20OOOOOOh%20eeeeeeeeeeem%20geeeeeee....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOk,%20hint:%20erase%20%22burger%22%20from%20your%20brain%20because%20this%20will%20taste%20NOTHING%20like%20a%20burger.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENext....open%20your%20taste%20buds%20to%20fresh,%20clean%20flavors.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThink...hummus%20with%20a%20southwestern%20flair,%20in%20patty%20version.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20enjoy!!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDon't%20let%20%22green%22%20freak%20you%20out.%20I%20mean....you%20eat%20green%20sauce.%20You%20eat%20avocados%20and%20guacamole.%20Get%20over%20it%20and%20eat%20a%20great%20tasting,%20green%20patty%20on%20your%20next%20burger.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20my%20entry%20this%20week%20into%20Two%20for%20Tuesdays%20Real%20Food.%20I'm%20linkin'%20up%20over%20at%20Heathers....Girlichef.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20could%20make%20this%20dish%20more%20%22real%22%20if%20you'd%20like%20by%20soaking%20and%20cooking%20the%20beans%20yourself%20(but%20beans%20are%20so%20basic%20and%20have%20so%20little%20in%20the%20%22additive%22%20area....that%20canned%20works%20for%20me%20in%20a%20pinch).%20And%20you%20could%20make%20the%20buns%20yourself.%20But%20when%20you%20get%20'em%20for%20free....what%20the%20heck!%20Eat%20'em%20and%20Enjoy%20'em.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
