Рецепт Chicken, Green Bean and Tomato Pasta with Peanut Dressing; Retro McDo's
by Katie Zeller

No work to report on this week....

What with mon mari lazing around the hospital and all.

He's not being completely idle - he cleaned off a lawn chair, parked himself under the apple tree by the front gate and painted said gate.

Now he's making noises about finishing my kitchen cabinets - you know, those last 5 cabinet doors that never seemed to get made.....

To give you an idea of how he's doing, after his bit of surgery:

The food in the surgery wing of the hospital is tasteless, bland swill - in his opinion. It's possible that most people, after gastro-intestinal surgery, appreciate bland swill, but, as his surgery didn't actually involve any major organs (this time), he found it lacking.

His request upon being released was lunch at McDonald's.

He wanted, and I quote: Greasy, salty, fatty junk food.

Your wish is my command, darling.

McDo's it is.

Actually, I was thinking: Great, I get to see the inside of that retro McDonald's on the roundabout!

It didn't disappoint - the interior, I mean. The food is the same.

First - there was this in the parking lot:

Remember, this is Bordeaux, France.... Not Memphis, Tennessee.

Inside was decked out like an old soda fountain. The staff even wore the traditional soda-jerk hats.

And right there on the counter - and in every booth.....

Yep!

A counter-top Jukebox featuring all American hits - like the Andrews Sister's 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B'.

And it worked.

And my salad was delicious. Who would've thought?

Mon mari had a bacon cheeseburger and fries.

In honor of his recent diet of watery gruel, he only ate half of each, but he said it was the best meal he'd had in yonks!

Speaking of good meals.....

Here is my entry:

Cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain.

Top and tail beans, cut into 1 1/2" (4cm) lengths. Clean and slice shallots. Mince garlic. Cut chicken into bite-size pieces. Snip parsley. Cut tomatoes into large chunks.

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shallots, beans and stir-fry 3 minutes. Add garlic, stir-fry another minutes. Remove vegetables to a plate. Add chicken and stir-fry until chicken is cooked through, about 4 minutes. Return vegetables to skillet, add Teriyaki sauce and stir well to combine. Remove from heat.

Peanut Dressing: Put all ingredients into a medium bowl and whisk well to combine.

To finish: Put pasta into a large serving bowl. Add chicken, vegetables, parsley, tomato and stir gently. Add Peanut Dressing and stir to combine.

Remember - make pasta, post pasta, send it to me.....
