%20are%20made%20with%20just%20potatoes%20and%20butter,%20but%20since%20I%E2%80%99m%20ridiculously%20predictable%20and%20can%E2%80%99t%20imagine%20anything%20without%20cheese,%20I%20had%20to%20add%20some%20parmesan%20and%20herbs%20to%20make%20them%20a%20bit%20more%20interesting.%20And%20it%20worked%20so%20well%20%E2%80%93%20these%20were%20gorgeous.%20They%20go%20perfectly%20alongside%20a%20protein%20and%20some%20vegetables,%20and%20they%E2%80%99d%20be%20a%20great%20little%20side%20dish%20for%20a%20dinner%20party%20%E2%80%93%20they%20look%20pretty%20and%20fairly%20impressive,%20but%20they%E2%80%99re%20easy%20to%20make.%20You%20just%20layer%20up%20your%20ingredients%20%E2%80%93%20sliced%20potatoes,%20butter,%20cheese%20and%20herbs%20%E2%80%93%20and%20then%20bake,%20and%20they%20magically%20stick%20together%20into%20these%20little%20towers%20(it%E2%80%99s%20important%20not%20to%20rinse%20your%20potato%20slices,%20as%20the%20starch%20helps%20them%20to%20stick).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20found%20that%20a%20fairly%20small%20amount%20of%20potato%20actually%20went%20quite%20a%20long%20way%20in%20this%20recipe%20%E2%80%93%20each%20of%20these%20little%20stacks%20were%20made%20from%20just%20one%20medium-sized%20potato,%20much%20smaller%20than%20those%20I%20would%20use%20for%20baked%20potatoes.%20Once%20you%20chop%20them%20all%20up%20it%20looks%20like%20far%20more.%20Depending%20on%20what%20you%E2%80%99re%20serving%20them%20with,%20one%20of%20the%20little%20rounds%20each%20should%20be%20enough%20(we%20had%202%20each,%20because%20we%E2%80%99re%20greedy).%20Especially%20if%20you%E2%80%99re%20using%20them%20for%20a%20posh%20dinner%20party%20(unlike%20me,%20who%20ate%20them%20in%20my%20pyjamas),%20less%20is%20usually%20more.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20an%20entirely%20unrelated%20note,%20I%20have%20become%20somewhat%20obsessed%20with%20Gossip%20Girl.%20I%20know%20I%E2%80%99m%20about%20six%20years%20too%20late,%20and%20I%20also%20know%20that%20it%E2%80%99s%20objectively%20complete%20rubbish,%20but%20I%20can%E2%80%99t%20help%20enjoying%20it.%20It%E2%80%99s%20the%20perfect%20show%20to%20have%20on%20in%20the%20background%20while%20I%E2%80%99m%20working%20on%20my%20computer,%20because%20it%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20take%20too%20much%20brain%20power.%20Plus%20I%20like%20to%20imagine%20I%E2%80%99m%20rich%20and%20it%20helps.%20Unfortunately%20I%E2%80%99ve%20already%20found%20out%20who%20Gossip%20Girl%20is%20(a%20revalation%20which%20I%20think%20comes%20at%20the%20very%20end%20of%20the%20last%20series),%20due%20to%20my%20fangirl-style%20Googling%20(I%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20trying%20to%20find%20out%20who%20it%20was,%20but%20when%20you%20Google%20a%20certain%20character%E2%80%99s%20name,%20the%20information%20was%20bound%20to%20appear),%20but%20I%20still%20kind%20of%20don%E2%80%99t%20believe%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyway,%20that%20was%20entirely%20irrelevant.%20Unless,%20I%20suppose,%20you%E2%80%99re%20going%20to%20eat%20these%20cheesy%20potatoes%20Anna%20at%20a%20Blair%20Waldorf-esque%20dinner%20party?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECheesy%20herbed%20potatoes%20Anna%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAuthor:%20Becca%20@%20Amuse%20Your%20Bouche%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrep%20time:%20%2020%20mins%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20time:%20%201%20hour%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETotal%20time:%20%201%20hour%2020%20mins%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes:%202-4%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20190%C2%B0C%20(Gas%20Mark%205%20/%20375%C2%B0F).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMelt%20the%20butter%20(I%20just%20used%20the%20microwave),%20and%20use%20a%20small%20amount%20of%20it%20to%20lightly%20grease%20four%20fairly%20large%20ramekins.%20Place%20a%20square%20of%20greaseproof%20paper%20in%20the%20bottom%20of%20each,%20ensuring%20that%20at%20least%20a%20couple%20of%20the%20corners%20of%20the%20paper%20protrude%20up%20the%20sides%20of%20the%20ramekin%20a%20little%20way.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlice%20the%20potatoes%20very%20thinly%20%E2%80%93%20using%20a%20mandoline%20is%20ideal.%20I%20kept%20the%20skins%20on%20mine,%20but%20you%20could%20peel%20them%20first%20if%20you%20prefer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELay%20a%20few%20of%20the%20potato%20slices%20on%20the%20bottom%20of%20each%20ramekin,%20overlapping%20them%20slightly%20to%20create%20a%20circular%20pattern%20that%20just%20covers%20the%20bottom%20(see%20pictures).%20Spoon%20a%20small%20amount%20of%20butter%20over%20each%20(around%20half%20a%20teaspoon%20will%20be%20enough),%20and%20then%20sprinkle%20with%20a%20small%20amount%20of%20grated%20cheese%20(again,%20around%20half%20a%20teaspoon),%20a%20few%20chopped%20chives,%20and%20a%20little%20salt%20and%20pepper.%20Repeat%20these%20layers%20(potato,%20butter,%20cheese,%20chives,%20seasoning)%20in%20each%20ramekin%20until%20all%20of%20your%20ingredients%20have%20been%20used%20up%20%E2%80%93%20I%20think%20I%20ended%20up%20with%20about%204%20layers%20in%20each.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake,%20covered,%20for%20around%2045%20minutes,%20until%20the%20potatoes%20are%20tender.%20Using%20the%20corners%20of%20greaseproof%20paper,%20lift%20the%20potatoes%20out%20onto%20a%20baking%20sheet%20(if%20you%20don%E2%80%99t%20have%20any%20accessible%20corners%20of%20paper,%20just%20gently%20slide%20the%20potatoes%20out%20onto%20the%20sheet),%20and%20bake%20uncovered%20for%20a%20further%2015%20minutes%20to%20crisp%20up%20a%20little.%20Remove%20the%20paper%20and%20serve%20warm,%20topped%20with%20more%20chives%20if%20desired.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.2.1255%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
