  • MARTHA WHITE'S SOUTHERN
  • 2 c. Extra sharp Cheddar cheese, grated (8 ounces)
  • 1/2 c. Butter or possibly margarine, softened (1 stick)
  • 1 1/2 c. Martha White All-Purpose, Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/8 tsp Cayenne pepper

  1. Beat cheese and butter in mixing bowl till blended. Stir together flour, salt, and pepper in separate bowl. Add in flour mix to cheese mix; stir to blend or possibly use hands to work in flour. Cover dough and chill for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 375. Grease a large baking sheet. Turn dough out onto lightly floured board or possibly pastry cloth; knead gently just till smooth. Roll out very thin, 1/8-inch thick. Cut into 4 x 1/2-inch sticks using sharp knife or possibly pastry wheel. Place sticks on prepared baking sheet.
  2. BAke for 10 to 12 min or possibly till golden. Cold on wire rack.
