%20a%20dog%20needs%20and%20what%20a%20great%20responsibility%20it%20is%20to%20have%20a%20dog%20but%20we%20do%20not%20regret%20adopting%20him,%20as%20this%20little%20fellow%20has%20brought%20so%20much%20joy%20in%20our%20life%20that%20we%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20ask%20for%20a%20better%20dog%20to%20have%20!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20first%20day%20we%20adopted%20Dias.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20Birthday%20boy,%20wearing%20a%20tie!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20am%20a%20bit%20late%20to%20post%20the%20recipe%20as%20we%20celebrated%20his%20birthday%20last%20week,%20but%20as%20you%20may%20have%20noticed%20I%20am%20trying%20to%20revamp%20my%20blog.%20%20%20I%20gifted%20myself%20this%20premium%20theme%20for%20Christmas,%20which%20I%20am%20still%20trying%20to%20learn%20how%20to%20use%20and%20there%20were%20some%20glitches%20along%20which%20I%20have%20been%20trying%20to%20solve%20before%20posting.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20don%E2%80%99t%20know%20exactly%20the%20day%20he%20was%20born%20but%20when%20we%20took%20him%20from%20the%20shelter%20they%20told%20us%20that%20he%20was%20about%203%20months%20old.%20%20The%20Vet%20confirmed%20this%20and%20said%20that%20he%20was%20probably%20born%20early%20January,%202015.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJust%20after%20Epiphany,%20I%20made%20this%20Carrot%20and%20Apple%20Cake%20for%20him.%20%20Before%20making%20it,%20however,%20I%20google%20searched%20for%20information%20such%20as%20%E2%80%9CWhat%20food%20are%20poisonous%20to%20pets?%E2%80%9D%20%E2%80%93%20%20%E2%80%9CWhat%20kind%20of%20flour%20do%20I%20use?%E2%80%9D%20%E2%80%93%20%20%E2%80%9CCan%20I%20give%20Oatmeal%20to%20my%20Dog?%E2%80%9D%20and%20spent%20many%20more%20hours%20reading%20what%20to%20use%20and%20what%20not%20to%20use.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20ended%20up%20making%20this%20cake%20with%20rice%20flour%20and%20oats%20which%20I%20already%20had%20at%20home%20and%20used%20a%20carrot,%20an%20apple,%20an%20egg%20and%20vegetable%20oil%20to%20bind%20the%20ingredients.%20%20I%20intended%20to%20frost%20it%20with%20only%20peanut%20butter%20and%20cream%20cheese%20but%20the%20mixture%20was%20too%20thick,%20so%20I%20added%20a%20little%20bit%20of%20Greek%20yoghurt%20(you%20%20can%20add%20some%20milk%20instead%20or%20soy%20milk%20if%20your%20dog%20is%20allergic)%20to%20make%20the%20frosting%20easy%20to%20spread.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENote:%20%20Dias%20is%20not%20lactose%20intolerant.%20%20If%20you%20have%20any%20doubts%20about%20your%20own%20dog,%20you%20should%20consult%20your%20vet%20or%20do%20not%20add%20the%20frosting%20on%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20only%20thing%20missing%20from%20this%20cake%20to%20make%20it%20human%20friendly%20as%20well,%20is%20sugar%20and%20salt.%20%20If%20you%20want%20to%20make%20a%20larger%20quantity%20for%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20family%20to%20eat,%20you%20can%20set%20aside%20some%20for%20your%20dog%20and%20then%20add%20a%20small%20quantity%20of%20honey%20and%20a%20pinch%20of%20salt.%20%20(Others%20add%20honey%20in%20dog%20treats%20but%20I%20preferred%20to%20avoid%20it).%20%20%20The%20quantity%20I%20made%20is%20for%20about%202%20cupcakes%20or%201%20mini%20spring-form%20baking%20tin%20(10%20cm%20diametre).%20%20I%20divided%20the%20mixture%20in%20two%20tins%20but%20if%20you%20decide%20to%20make%20it%20all%20in%20one,%20more%20time%20will%20be%20needed%20to%20bake%20it.%20%20When%20the%20cake%20is%20baked%20you%20can%20cut%20it%20in%20the%20middle%20to%20add%20some%20of%20the%20frosting%20inside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20can%20use%20a%20piping%20bag%20with%20a%20nozzle%20to%20decorate%20the%20cake%20on%20top%20but%20this%20is%20not%20really%20necessary.%20%20You%20can%20use%20a%20fork%20to%20make%20some%20simple%20designs.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHappy%20Birthday%20Dias!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECarrot%20and%20Apple%20Doggie%20Cake%20with%20Peanut%20Butter%20Cream%20Cheese%20Frosting%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreparation%20time:%20%2015%20minutes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBaking%20time:%20%2025%20minutes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMakes%20:%20%202%20(in%2010%20cm%20pans)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBoil%20half%20of%20a%20large%20apple%20with%20the%20skin%20on%20until%20soft,%20for%20about%2020%20minutes.%20%20Remove%20the%20pulp%20and%20discard%20the%20skin.%20%20Mash%20it%20with%20a%20fork.%20%20Put%20all%20the%20ingredients%20in%20a%20bowl%20and%20mix%20with%20a%20fork.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELine%20two%20mini%20baking%20tins%20(10%20cm%20diametre)%20with%20parchment%20paper%20and%20divide%20the%20batter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20in%20a%20preheated%20oven%20to%20180o%20C%20for%20about%2025%20minutes,%20or%20until%20a%20knife%20inserted%20in%20the%20centre%20comes%20out%20clean.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20the%20cream%20cheese,%20peanut%20butter%20and%20yoghurt%20with%20a%20spoon%20to%20make%20a%20spreadable%20frosting.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDecorate%20the%20cake%20by%20spreading%20the%20frosting%20on%20top%20and%20to%20the%20sides.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDecorate%20with%20some%20raw%20grated%20carrot%20on%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDias%20can%20vouch%20that%20it%20was%20delicious%20as%20he%20started%20licking%20the%20cake%20before%20we%20lit%
