%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFirst%20Step%20is%20to%20peel%20and%20slice%20the%20apples%20%20I%20like%20a%20mixed%20apple%20pie,%20but%20you%20can%20use%20any%20kind%20of%20apples%20you%20like.%20%20I%20used%20two%20Green%20Apples,%20two%20Granny%20Smith,%20and%201%20Fuji.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENext%20Step%20is%20to%20add%20in%20the%20Lemon%20Juice,%20Brown%20and%20White%20Sugar,%20Flour,%20Cinnamon%20Salt%20and%20Nutmeg,%20and%20stir%20to%20combine%20evenly%20over%20all%20of%20the%20apples.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENOW%E2%80%A6NOW%20Is%20the%20time%20to%20make%20your%20delicious%20Caramel!%20%20Start%20by%20melting%20your%204%20Tbls%20of%20Butter%20in%20a%20large%20saucepan.%20%20Then%20add%20in%20the%203%20Tbls%20of%20brown%20Sugar,%20Heavy%20Cream,%20and%20Vanilla%20and%20cook%20for%203%20minutes%20over%20medium%20low%20heat%20constantly%20stirring.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow,%20this%20next%20step%20is%20optional,%20but%20as%20I%20stated%20above,%20HIGHLY%20RECOMMENDED.%20%20For%20me%20it%20provides%20extra%20yummy%20Caramel%20flavor%20and%20extra%20soothing%20to%20my%20caramel%20induced%20spelling%20wounds!%20%20This%20is%20where%20you%20add%20in%201/2%20cup%20of%20Caramel%20ice%20cream%20topping%20or%20sauce%20into%20your%20homemade%20sauce%20and%20stir%20to%20combine.%20%20Feel%20free%20to%20just%20proceed%20with%20just%20the%20homemade%20caramel%20if%20you%20would%20like.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20this%20delicious%20caramel%20sauce,%20add%20in%20your%20apple%20mixture%20and%20stir%20to%20combine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20cook%20this%20mixture%20for%208-10%20minutes%20on%20Medium%20heat%20as%20it%20helps%20the%20apples%20start%20cooking%20before%20adding%20to%20the%20Pie.%20%20Personally,%20I%20do%20not%20LOVE%20crunchy%20apples%20in%20an%20apple%20pie.%20%20I%20like%20them%20to%20be%20all%20the%20way%20cooked,%20but%20not%20mushy.%20%20I%20find%20that%20sauteing%20the%20apples%20in%20the%20caramel%20mixture%20before%20adding%20to%20the%20pie%20helps%20them%20to%20reach%20the%20perfect%20texture%20within%20the%20finished%20pie.%20%20Make%20sure%20you%20stir%20this%20mix%20a%20lot%20while%20cooking%20as%20you%20don%E2%80%99t%20want%20the%20caramel%20to%20burn%20on%20the%20bottom,%20and%20you%20want%20the%20apples%20to%20be%20evenly%20cooked.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDuring%20this%208-10%20minutes%20I%20usually%20put%20together%20my%20Streusel%20topping.%20%20You%20simply%20mix%20together%20the%20flour,%20sugar%20and%20cinnamon%20and%20then%20mix%20in%20the%20Cold%20%203%20Tbls%20of%20Butter%20until%20the%20butter%20is%20about%20the%20size%20of%20peas.%20%20I%20mix%20this%20with%20my%20hands%20as%20it%20makes%20a%20more%20flaky%20topping%20in%20my%20opinion.%20%20After%20the%20butter%20is%20mixed%20in,%20I%20add%20in%20the%204%20Tbls%20of%20toffee%20bits%20and%20stir%20to%20combine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESometime%20a%20few%20of%20the%20Toffee%20Bits%20accidentally%20end%20up%20in%20my%20mouth%E2%80%A6actually%E2%80%A6every%20single%20time!%20%20haha.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20also%20usually%20have%20my%20Pie%20Crust%20prepped%20and%20in%20the%20Pie%20Pan%20ready%20to%20go%20at%20this%20point.%20%20It%20is%20time%20to%20assemble%20this%20glorious%20pie!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20the%20Caramel%20Apples%20into%20your%20prepared%20Pie%20Crust%20and%20make%20sure%20they%20are%20a%20flat%20and%20even%20layer%20for%20your%20topping.%20%20Then%20Sprinkle%20your%20Streusel%20topping%20over%20the%20apples%20in%20an%20even%20layer%20as%20well.%20%20And%20try%20not%20to%20pick%20out%20too%20many%20of%20the%20toffee%20bits%20at%20this%20point%E2%80%A6you%20want%20to%20leave%20a%20few%20for%20the%20pie!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20this%20Pie%20at%20415%20degrees%20for%2015%20minutes.%20%20At%20that%20point,%20turn%20the%20temperature%20down%20to%20350%20degrees%20and%20bake%20for%2030-40%20minutes%20more%20until%20bubbly%20at%20the%20corners.%20%20Also,%20you%20will%20want%20to%20cover%20your%20pie%20crust%20with%20foil%20at%20this%20point%20so%20it%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20burn.%20%20I%20take%20a%20big%20piece%20of%20foil%20and%20cut%20out%20a%20circle%20and%20lay%20that%20over%20the%20pie%20to%20protect%20my%20crust%20from%20burning.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20Pie%20is%20more%20of%20a%20Pie/Crisp/Streusel%20hybrid%20as%20it%20does%20not%20have%20a%20LOT%20of%20crust%20and%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20have%20a%20crust%20topping.%20%20Neither%20me%20%20or%20my%20husband%20LOVE%20pie%20crust%20and%20maybe%20that%20is%20why%20this%20pie%20is%20one%20of%20our%20favorites%20as%20it%20is%20more%20of%20a%20Crisp%20with%20a%20little%20crust%20underneath!%20%20Because%20of%20this%20fact%20it%20also%20does%20not%20hold%20a%20great%20pie%20piece%20shape%20when%20you%20serve%20it.%20%20It%20sort%20of%20melts%20into%20a%20pile%20of%20tasty%20goodness%20without%20being%20the%20prettiest%20piece%20of%20pie!%20%20If%20%20you%20are%20a%20CRUST%20lover%E2%80%A6feel%20free%20to%20just%20add%20in%20crust%20on%20the%20top%20and%20skip%20the%20Streusel%20topping!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20the%20pie%20is%20done,%20take%20it%20out%20of%20the%20oven%20and%20cool%20it%20at%20least%20an%20hour%20before%20eating%20or%20the%20caramel%20will%20run%20out%20all%20over%20the%20place!%20Even%20when%20it%20does%20cool%20down,%20it%20still%20might%20be%20runny,%20but%20that%20is%20part%20of%20its%20Caramelly%20goodness!%20%20I%20am%20going%20to%20post%20a%20few%20pictures%20of%20the%20pie%20served%20hot%20and%20runny%20and%20then%20also%20served%20cold%20the%20next%20day%20when%20it%20was%20holding%20its%20pie%20shape%20a%20little%20better!%20It%20tasted%20equally%20delicious%20both%20ways!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHappy%20C%20A%20R%20A%20M%20E%20L%20%20Apple%20Pie%E2%80%A6ing!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
