- Butter a 1 1/2 qt baking dish. Butter each slice of bread using 2 Tbsp. butter in all. Stack 4 slices of bread cut into 3 rectangles. Repeat with remaining bread. Line prepared dish with half of the bread. Sprinkle with half of raisins. Arrange remaining bread on top.
- Beat Large eggs and sugar till light and lemon colored. Gradually beat in lowfat milk, cream, vanilla, and the 1/4 tsp. cinnamon till sugar dissolves. Slowly pour custard over bread. Gently press bread into custard. Sprinkle top with remaining raisins and a healthy pinch of cinnamon. Let stand 20 min. Heat oven to 325 degrees. Put baking dish in roasting pan, fill pan halfway with water. Bake about 1 hour. 6 servings.
