  • 2/3 c. Shortening
  • 2 x Large eggs
  • 2 1/2 c. Flour
  • 2 tsp Soda
  • 1 tsp Black walnut flavoring
  • 2 Tbsp. Water
  • 2 1/3 c. Confectioners sugar
  • 1 x Egg
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 c. Sugar
  • 2 c. Buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 c. Black walnuts, minced
  • 4 Tbsp. Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/3 c. Shortening

  1. Cream 2/3 c shortening and 2 c sugar. Add in 2 Large eggs; one at a time.; beating well after each one. Add in half the buttermilk;. flour and soda. Beat well.
  2. Add in the other half plus the salt; vanilla and black walnut flavoring. Beat.
  3. Stir in minced nuts. =14Pour into greased; 9x13 inch pan and bake at 250 degrees for 35 to 40 min or possibly till done. When cold ice with Creamy Icing=14
  4. Creamy Icing: Boil water and 4 Tablespoons sugar together in a pan for 2 to 3 min. Let cold. Mix confectioners sugar; salt and egg. Pour sugar-water syrup in and beat smooth. Add in shortening and vanilla LAST (this is important). Beat till creamy. More confectioners sugar may be needed. Ice cake.
