- All Purpose Flour : 3 cups to 3.5cups
- Filling:
- Cherry / Strawberry compote/preserve/jam: 3/4 cup
- Crumbled chocolate spongecake : around 2 cups

%20in%20between%20garnished%20with%20more%20cherries,cream%20and%20chocolate%20shavings.More%20than%20anything%20I%20was%20intrigued%20by%20the%20name.I%20used%20to%20believe%20that%20it%20was%20the%20chocolate%20shavings%20that%20gave%20rise%20to%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ename%20black%20forest%20and%20used%20to%20wonder%20why%20not%20brown%20forest.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELater%20whenever%20I%20took%20a%20bite%20I%20imagined%20myself%20near%20the%20Black%20Forest%20Mountain%20range%20in%20%20Southern%20Germany.%20I%20even%20used%20to%20be%20jealous%20of%20the%20locals%20there%20thinking%20they%20would%20be%20having%20the%20cake%20all%20the%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnly%20recently%20I%20got%20to%20know%20it%20was%20named%20after%20the%20speciality%20liquor%20of%20the%20Black%20Forest%20region.%20The%20authentic%20Black%20Forest%20which%20is%20rated%20as%20a%20Top%20Gourmet%20Cake%20gets%20its%20flavour%20from%20this%20liquor%20distilled%20from%20tart%20cherries.Though%20ofcourse%20when%20the%20cake%20got%20popular%20worldwide,%20they%20were%20manufactured%20without%20alcohol%20%20but%20cherry%20preserves.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20time%20for%20We%20Knead%20to%20Bake,%20Aparna%20gave%20us%20the%20yummilicious%20Black%20Forest%20Buns.%20A%20fuss%20free%20yeasted%20bread%20made%20fancy%20due%20to%20the%20use%20of%20cherry/berry%20compote%20and%20chocolate%20sponge%20cake.%20Easy%20to%20make%20and%20Gourmet%20to%20taste.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDrizzling:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Echopped%20and%20melted%20semi%20sweet%20chocolate%20or%20choc%20syrup%20or%20your%20choice.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreparation:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20water%20and%20milk%20on%20medium%20in%20a%20saucepan%20till%20quite%20hot%20but%20not%20boiling.%20Pour%20this%20liquid%20into%20a%20large%20bowl%20and%20add%20butter.%20Stir%20until%20the%20butter%20is%20melted.%20Then%20add%20in%20the%20sugar%20and%20stir%20until%20it%20dissolves.%20Once%20it%20starts%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecooling%20down%20and%20%20becomes%20luke%20warm%20add%20the%20yeast%20and%20egg.%20mix%20well.%20Then%20add%20about%201%20cup%20of%20flour%20and%20mix%20well.%20You%20can%20do%20this%20process%20by%20hand%20or%20in%20the%20processor.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20salt%20and%20more%20flour%20as%20much%20is%20necessary%20and%20knead%20to%20get%20a%20smooth%20elastic%20nonsticky%20dough.In%20between%20if%20the%20mix%20becomes%20difficult%20to%20mix%20in%20tun%20it%20onto%20the%20work%20surface%20and%20continue%20to%20knead%20another%2010%20minutes%20or%20so%20till%20it%20becomes%20elastic%20and%20nonsticky.%20Mine%20was%20slightly%20sticky%20but%20workable.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20kneaded%20dough%20in%20an%20oiled%20bowl%20turning%20to%20coat%20with%20oil.%20Cover%20loosely%20and%20allow%20the%20dough%20to%20double%20in%20volume%20for%20about%201-1.5%20hours.Now%20place%20the%20dough%20on%20a%20flat%20surface%20and%20roll%20it%20out%20into%20a%2018%22%20x%2012%22%20rectangle.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpread%20the%20cherry%20compote/strawberry%20jam%20over%20leaving%20a%201/2%20%22%20all%20around.%20Sprinkle%20the%20cake%20crumbs%20atop%20this.%20Roll%20the%20dough%20away%20from%20you,as%20tightly%20as%20possible%20starting%20with%20the%209%22%20edge%20like%20jellyroll%20sealing%20the%20edges%20using%20water%20if%20needed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECut%20into%201.5%22%20pieces%20and%20you%20will%20get%2012%20pieces.%20Place%20each%20piece%20in%20separate%20moulds%20or%20a%20baking%20sheet%20with%20just%20enough%20space%20between%20them%20to%20expand.Too%20much%20distance%20will%20make%20these%20spread%20rather%20than%20become%20tall%20which%20is%20what%20we%20want.%20Cover%20loosely%20and%20allow%20to%20rise%20for%20another%201%20hour%20or%20till%20double.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20in%20a%20preheated%20oven%20at%20350F/180C%20for%2025-30%20minutes.%20Remove%20and%20cool%20completely.%20Garnish%20with%20more%20cherries.%20Drizzle%20with%20melted%20chocolate%20and%20serve.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPerfect%20Gourmet%20Bread%20Buns.%20We%20are%20definitely%20taken%20to%20black%20forest%20land%20thanks%20to%20compote%20and%20cake.%20Bake%20these%20to%20taste%20for%20yourself.%20I%20am%20going%20for%20another%20batch%20as%20the%20first%20batch%20got%20over%20right%20from%20the%20oven.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHop%20over%20to%20Aparna's%20to%20see%20who%20all%20baked%20this%20treat.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
