%20but%20because%20I%20want%20to%20put%20an%20effort%20into%20them%20that%20makes%20the%20giving%20personal%20in%20a%20very%20real%20sense.%20Don%E2%80%99t%20laugh%20but%20this%20year%E2%80%A6recipients%20are%20getting%20this%20coffee%20liqueur,%20my%20version%20of%20Biscoff%20cookies%20(I%E2%80%99ll%20share%20them%20soon!)%20and%20my%20home%20cured%20Maple%20Bourbon%20Bacon.%20Yes,%20bacon.%20I%20want%20them%20all%20to%20experience%20how%20amazing%20home%20cured%20bacon%20is%20so%20yesterday%20I%20bought%2010%20lbs%20of%20pork%20belly%20which%20I%E2%80%99ll%20be%20curing%20and%20smoking%20and%20wrapping%20in%20one%20pound%20packages%20for%20gifts.%20Go%20on,%20tell%20me%20now%20if%20that%E2%80%99s%20crazy;%20I%E2%80%99m%20happy%20to%20hang%20on%20to%20all%20of%20it%20for%20myself!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20are%20a%20variety%20of%20methods%20I%E2%80%99ve%20seen%20for%20making%20home%20brewed%20Kahlua%20coffee%20liqueur.%20The%20primary%20difference%20in%20methods%20is%20using%20either%20coffee%20grounds%20in%20the%20brew%20or%20instant%20coffee.%20I%E2%80%99ve%20done%20both%20and%20personally%20prefer%20going%20the%20instant%20coffee%20route;%20the%20year%20I%20tried%20grounds%20there%20was%20no%20way%20to%20remove%20every%20bit%20of%20them;%20even%20pouring%20it%20through%20cheesecloth%20didn%E2%80%99t%20completely%20work%20if%20only%20because%20some%20of%20the%20heavenly%20elixir%20was%20lost%20in%20the%20cheesecloth.%20I%20also%20like%20to%20cook%20down%20the%20sugars%20and%20water%20to%20get%20a%20syrupy%20consistency%20before%20adding%20the%20vodka.%20Is%20it%20totally%20necessary?%20Not%20really;%20just%20my%20personal%20preference.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99ve%20found%20that%20my%20favorite%20concoction%20includes%20some%20of%20my%20own%20revisions.%20I%20use%20dried%20espresso%20instead%20of%20instant%20coffee;%20I%20just%20think%20it%E2%80%99s%20a%20bit%20richer%20as%20a%20result.%20And%20beyond%20the%20standard%20water,%20sugars%20and%20vodka%20I%20add%20just%20a%20touch%20of%20chocolate%20liqueur%20to%20the%20mix.%20I%20often%20use%20espresso%20in%20a%20chocolate%20recipe%20because%20they%20are%20so%20compatible%20with%20each%20other%20so%20I%E2%80%99ve%20just%20done%20%E2%80%98opposite%20day%E2%80%99%20and%20added%20a%20bit%20of%20chocolate%20to%20this%20espresso%20based%20liqueur.%20It%E2%80%99s%20subtle%20but%20it%E2%80%99s%20there%20and%20it%E2%80%99s%20a%20good%20addition.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBy%20the%20way;%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20recommend%20that%20you%20use%20either%20Everclear%20or%20your%20best%20vodka%20for%20this.%20Everclear%20is%20often%20recommended%20but%20it%E2%80%99s%20grain%20alcohol%20that%20has%20such%20a%20high%20proof%20that%20many%20liquor%20stores%20won%E2%80%99t%20even%20carry%20it.%20Using%20great%20sipping%20vodka%20is%20also%20not%20required;%20save%20that%20for%20your%20favorite%20cocktails.%20Once%20you%20mix%20the%20vodka%20with%20sugars%20and%20coffee%20and%20let%20it%20age%20a%20bit;%20the%20vodka%20will%20mellow%20out.%20I%20usually%20ask%20a%20liquor%20store%20for%20a%20recommendation%20and%20spend%20around%20$15%20for%20a%20750%20ML%20bottle.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%E2%80%99re%20now%20in%20the%20mood%20to%20make%20your%20own%20Coffee%20Liqueur;%20you%20might%20want%20to%20check%20out%20my%20post%20for%20Cranberry%20Liqueur;%20it%E2%80%99s%20also%20amazing%20and%20currently%20aging%20in%20our%20brewing%20facility%20(you%20might%20call%20it%20a%20garage).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBetter%20than%20Kahlua%20%E2%80%93%20How%20to%20Make%20Coffee%20Liqueur%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20think%20better%20even%20than%20Kahlua...your%20own%20coffee%20liqueur%20using%20espresso.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreparation%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20the%20water,%20both%20sugars%20and%20dried%20espresso%20in%20a%20large%20saucepan%20over%20medium-high%20heat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBring%20to%20a%20boil;%20turn%20the%20heat%20to%20low%20and%20simmer%20for%20a%20minimum%20of%201%20hour.to%20reduce%20the%20mixture%20and%20make%20a%20more%20syrupy%20consistency.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWatch%20constantly%20and%20stir%20occasionally.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20from%20heat%20and%20let%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20vodka,%20vanilla%20beans%20and%20chocolate%20liqueur.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20everything%20into%20a%20storage%20container.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAge%20for%203-4%20weeks%20in%20a%20cool,%20dark%20location;%20stirring%20once%20or%20twice%20a%20week.%20(Note...it's%20absolutely%20drinkable%20earlier;%20so%20if%20you%20have%20less%20time%20to%20age%20it%20than%20that;%20gift%20it%20and%20make%20a%20note%20on%20the%20gift%20tag%20to%20wait%20just%20a%20bit).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20ready%20to%20bottle,%20remove%20vanilla%20beans,%20bottle%20mixture%20and%20store.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENotes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrep%20time%20does%20not%20include%20the%20time%20required%20for%20the%20mixture%20to%20brew!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.0%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ehttp://www.creative-culinary.com/2011/11/better-than-kahlua-how-to-make-coffee-liqueur-happyhourfriday/%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20re
