2 c. sifted flour 1 teaspoon salt 2 1/2 c. buttermilk 1 tbsp. melted shortening

1 teaspoon soda 1 tbsp. sugar 1 egg, well beaten

1. Mix all together till just blended. Pour by scant 1/4 c. on warm griddle, greased if necessary. Turn once to cook other side.
