Beer Battered Crouton Coated Mushrooms
- 8 oz pkg whole mushrooms, wiped clean
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup beer (I like Leinenkugels)
- 1 t baking powder
- 1 t old bay seasoning
- 2 cups croutons, any flavor, crushed
- vegetable oil for frying
- Slice mushrooms in half
- With wire whisk, whisk together flour, beer, baking powder, and old bay seasoning
- Heat oil in deep fat fryer to 375º
- Dip sliced mushrooms in batter, then roll in crushed croutons
- Drop into hot oil and fry until golden brown, 2-4 mins
Drain on paper towels
Serve with Spicy Mustard Dip
Spicy Mustard Dip:
1/2 cup mayo
2 T Spicy Mustard (I like Koops Arizona Heat Mustard)
Stir together and serve with mushrooms.
