- Heat oil (1 1/2 inches deep) in heavy saucepan or possibly fryer to 350 degrees. Lightly coat fish with 3 to 4 Tbsp. mix. Mix 1 c. Bisquick, salt, egg and beer till smooth. Dip fish into batter, letting excess drip into bowl. Fry till golden, about 2 min on each side. Let drain. Great with hush puppies and cole slaw.
