.%20I%20kn0w%20I%20could%20store%20the%20oil%20for%20later%20use%20but%20again...I%20don't%20have%20the%20time%20to%20wait%203%20hours%20after%20school%20for%20it%20to%20cool%20down....ANYWAY.%20I%20don't%20know%20why%20I%20am%20justifying%20myself%20here%20(warding%20off%20comment%20making%20the%20aforementioned%20suggestions%20I%20guess)....it's%20MY%20blog....sheesh.%20lol%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20students%20love%20Egg%20Roll%20day.%20I%20make%20the%20filling%20ahead%20of%20time%20and%20I%20teach%20them%20how%20to%20fold%20it,%20roll%20it%20and%20fry%20it.%20Kinda%20sketchy%20for%20some%20kids%20who%20are%20afraid%20of%20oil....but%20I%20am%20there%20to%20assist....no%20one%20ever%20burned%20(that%20badly-%20lol-%20kidding)%20I%20found%20this%20recipe%20for%20baked%20egg%20rolls%20and%20totally%20ignored%20the%20recipe%20but%20read%20the%20process.%20I%20love%20MY%20recipe....just%20was%20not%20thrilled%20over%20the%20amount%20of%20oil%20that%20is%20being%20consumed.%20Problem%20NOW%20solved.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOf%20course%20my%20recipe%20is%20enough%20to%20feed%2030%20students,%20several%20staff%20members%20and%20a%20carry%20out%20plate%20of%20like%206-8%20for%20my%20BFF%20coworker%20and%20me.%20Forwarning...this%20recipe%20makes%20alot**%20(60?).%20Not%20a%20number%20for%20your%20typical%20family%20of%20four.%20Have%20an%20egg%20roll%20making%20party!%20Freeze%20half%20of%20the%20batch.%20Share%20some%20with%20neighbors.%20Eat%20only%20egg%20rolls%20for%20dinner%20one%20night.%20Set%20up%20an%20egg%20roll%20stand%20in%20front%20of%20your%20house.%20Encourage%20your%20child%20to%20do%20a%20report%20on%20China%20and%20bring%20these%20in%20to%20their%20class.....%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBaked%20Egg%20Rolls%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFilling:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20450%20degrees.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBoil%20hot%20water%20and%20soak%20cellophane%20noodle%20in%20a%20bowl%20until%20soft.%20Cut%20noodles%20with%20scissors%20to%20make%20shorter%20pieces.%20Set%20aside%20to%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrepare%20filling%20by:%20cooking%20turkey,%20onions,%20garlic,%20salt%20and%20pepper.%20Cook%20until%20turkey%20is%20no%20longer%20pink.%20Cool%20turkey%20mixture%20while%20preparing%20vegetables.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsing%20a%20food%20processor,%20shred%20washed%20cabbage,%20grate%20carrots.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20cooled%20turkey,%20cooled%20noodles%20with%20vegetables%20in%20large%20bowl.%20Add%20season%20salt%20and%20pepper%20to%20taste.%20DON'T%20SALT%20YOUR%20MIXTURE%20IF%20YOU%20ARE%20PUTTING%20IN%20FRIDGE%20OVERNIGHT.%20The%20salt%20will%20pull%20out%20the%20water%20and%20leave%20your%20mixture%20soggy%20as%20though%20the%20cabbage%20was%20cooked.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPut%201/4%20cup%20of%20turkey%20mixture%20in%20the%20center%20of%20egg%20roll%20wrapper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EKinda%20like%20the%20bottom%20of%20an%20envelope.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMaking%20sure%20being%20gentle%20yet%20tightly%20tucking%20filling%20and%20rolling.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBrush%20the%20top%20of%20the%20unrolled%20wrapper%20with%20egg%20wash.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20on%20foiled%20line%20cookie%20sheet%20with%20seam%20side%20down;%20brush%20with%20oil%20and%20sprinkle%20with%20sesame%20seeds.%20Bake%20for%2015%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20am%20never%20deep%20fat%20frying%20these%20egg%20rolls%20ever%20again!!!%20These%20were%20absolutely%20the%20same.%20Crispy,%20crunchy.%20Great%20texture%20inside,%20not%20over%20cooked.%20Bring%20on%20the%20hot%20mustard%20and%20duck%20sauce!!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*The%20cost%20cutting%20was%20not%20from%20this%20recipe%20but%20swapping%20this%20recipe%20being%20done%20as%20a%20lab%20experience%20and%20the%20chicken%20with%20broccoli%20stir%20fry%20as%20a%20demonstration.%20I%20was%20able%20to%20buy%20considerably%20less%20chicken%20and%20vegetables%20by%20doing%20it%20as%20a%20sample%20demonstration.%20During%20lab%20they%20would%20get%20a%20hefty%20portion%20with%20rice.%20Sad%20to%20say%20that%20buying%20a%20package%20of%20100%20chopsticks%20is%20probably%20the%20cheapest%20I%20have%20to%20buy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E**Look%20at%20the%20bowl%20of%20filling....I%20said%20a%20LOT.%20Perhaps%20you%20could%20only%20shred%20half%20of%20the%20cabbage....or%20use%20half%20a%20package%20of%20noodles....1/2%20lb%20of%20turkey%20and%20one%20package%20of%20egg%20rolls%20wrappers.%20Dunno,%20play%20around%20with%20what%20works%20for%20you.%20Honestly%20I%20just%20think%20you%20should%20file%20this%20recipe%20under...party%20appetizers%20and%20keep%20the%20amount%20so%20you%20don't%20have%20half%20a%20cabbage,%20half%20cellophane%20noodle%20and%20half%20an%20open%20package%20of%20turkey%20to%20use%20up%20afterward.%20Hey,%20the%20more%20you%20make,%20the%20more%20friends%20you%20will%20keep.%20Works%20for%20me!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDon't%20be%20intimidated.%20If%20my%208th%20graders%20can%20do%20this...so%20can%20you!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERolling%20around%20in%20the%20joy%20of%20less%20fat%20in%20my%20egg%20roll,%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
