- Sift the flour and sugar together. Add in the minced nuts. Blend in the butter. Stir with a spoon till a soft dough is formed. Refrigeratefor 1-2 hrs.
- Roll the dough out on a floured board to 1/8" thickness. Cut into rounds with a biscuit cutter and place rounds on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake at 375 (191C) for 7-10 minutes.
- Yields about 3 dozen.
- Can be made into a sandwich cookie. Traditional Austrian manner is to spread thinly with jam, cover with a second cookie, then cover top with chocolate frosting and a pecan or possibly walnut half.
- CHOCOLATE FROSTING 1 TB butter 1/3 c powdered sugar 1 egg yolk 1 sq unsweetened chocolate, -melted and cooled.
- Cream butter and sugar. Add in egg yolk and chocolate. Blend well.
