The very best fresh asparagus recipe I have is so simple - steamed asparagus (about a lb.) sprinkled with three Tbsp. of balsamic vinegar and some garlic salt. The vinegar has to be balsamic. I do not see why this wouldn't work on other vegetables, especially green beans.
