%20with%20this%20amazing%20combination%20(now%20I%20know%20it%E2%80%99s%20a%20New%20Orleans%20favorite)%20so%20that%20I%20could%20try%20to%20recreate%20it%20for%20my%20husband%20after%20we%20were%20moved%20and%20settled.%20Mission%20accomplished%20and%20now%20maybe%20you%E2%80%99re%20wondering%20what%20in%20the%20heck%20this%20has%20to%20do%20with%20an%20Asian%20Chicken%20Salad?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWell,%20I%20long%20ago%20forgot%20the%20name%20of%20the%20restaurant%20and%20it%20bugged%20me%20when%20I%20wrote%20that%20post%20for%20Bananas%20Foster%20Crepes;%20I%20think%20I%20have%20a%20good%20memory%20but%20nothing%20seemed%20to%20jog%20that%20information%20loose%20so%20I%20somehow%20managed%20to%20move%20on%20with%20life%20and%20the%20issue%20was%20forgotten.%20Then%20one%20day%20recently,%20my%20friend%20Kristen%20posted%20a%20Copycat%20Recipe%20for%20Asian%20Chicken%20Salad%20from%20Houlihan%E2%80%99s%20on%20her%20blog%20Dine%20and%20Dish%20and%20I%E2%80%99m%20surprised%20you%20didn%E2%80%99t%20hear%20me%20whooping%20and%20hollering%20wherever%20you%20are.%20That%20was%20it!%20I%20had%20never%20had%20the%20Asian%20Chop%20Chop%20Chicken%20Salad%20but%20the%20name%20of%20the%20restaurant?%20Houlihan%E2%80%99s!?%20That%20was%20it!!%20The%20home%20of%20Bananas%20Foster%20Crepes.%20A%20quick%20search%20of%20locations%20pretty%20much%20confirmed%20what%20I%20quickly%20surmised.%20Even%20though%20they%20are%20a%20chain,%20they%20are%20not%20everywhere;%20not%20even%20close%20to%20NC%20and%20also%20not%20in%20Denver.%20So%20a%20name%20that%20used%20to%20be%20familiar%20had%20been%20lost%20to%20the%20furthest%20recesses%20of%20my%20brain%20and%20it%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20until%20I%20saw%20it%20again%20that%20the%20dessert%20and%20the%20restaurant%20were%20once%20again%20magically%20aligned.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20I%20made%20this%20dish%20out%20of%20some%20sense%20of%20homage%20to%20that%20memory,%20and,%20well,%20to%20the%20fact%20that:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20no%20dinner%20planned%20and%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20most%20everything%20I%20needed%20on%20hand%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20definitely%20had%20the%20%E2%80%98Mmmm%20Good%E2%80%99%20factor%20going%20on%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20have%20I%20had%20substitutes%20for%20so%20I%20was%20good%20to%20go%20and%20I%20had%20dinner%20on%20the%20table%20within%20a%20%20half%20hour.%20YAY%20to%20that%20right?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EKristen%20had%20switched%20hers%20up%20a%20bit%20and%20added%20some%20canned%20beans%20to%20the%20mix.%20I%20opted%20instead%20for%20some%20salted%20peanuts%20(which%20really%20is%20a%20bean%20so%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20stray%20far)%20and%20plain%20old%20green%20cabbage%20instead%20of%20Napa.%20I%20keep%20a%20well%20stocked%20refrigerator%20and%20pantry%20so%20I%20seldom%20shop%20for%20one%20or%20two%20items,%20preferring%20to%20make%20substitutions%20when%20I%20can.%20The%20only%20thing%20I%20wished%20I%20had%20on%20hand%20that%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20were%20the%20fried%20wonton%20strips%20but%20luckily%20I%20had%20some%20chow%20mein%20noodles%20and%20they%20were%20perfect;%20more%20a%20crispy%20layer%20to%20the%20salad%20than%20a%20big%20flavor%20one.%20Houlihan%E2%80%99s%20menu%20indicates%20differing%20ingredients%20and%20while%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20have%20snow%20peas,%20I%20will%20next%20time.%20They%20also%20call%20it%20a%20ginger%20honey%20mustard%20dressing%20so%20I%20was%20called%20to%20add%20a%20bit%20of%20each.%20I%20LOVE%20mustard%20and%20especially%20love%20whole%20grain%20mustard%20so%20that%20was%20easy%20and%20really%20the%20marriage%20of%20honey%20and%20mustard%20is%20so%20perfect%20that%20honey%20became%20a%20requisite%20too!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%C2%BD%20cup%20soy%20sauce%20%C2%BD%20cup%20rice%20vinegar%20%C2%BC%20cup%20brown%20sugar%203%20Tbsps%20sesame%20oil%20(I%20didn't%20have;%20so%20I%20added%20a%20Tbsp%20of%20toasted%20Sesame%20Seeds)%201%20tsp%20ginger%202%20tsp%20minced%20garlic%203%20green%20onions,%20chopped%201%20tsp%20chili%20paste%20(I%20like%20it%20a%20bit%20spicier!)%201%20tsp%20whole%20grain%20mustard%201%20Tbsp%20honey%202%20Tbsp%20corn%20starch%201%20pound%20chicken%20breast,%20cut%20into%20bite%20sized%20pieces%20Green%20Cabbage,%20%C2%BD%20head%20shredded%20Romaine%20Lettuce%204%20carrots,%20shredded%20%C2%BD%20cup%20Salted%20Peanuts%20Chow%20Mein%20Noodles%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20medium%20bowl,%20whisk%20together%20soy%20sauce,%20rice%20vinegar,%20brown%20sugar,%20sesame%20oil,%20ginger,%20minced%20garlic,%20onions,%20chili%20paste%20and%20corn%20starch.%20Heat%20a%20skillet%20over%20medium%20heat%20and%20add%20sauce%20ingredients;%20whisking%20until%20it%20comes%20to%20a%20low%20boil.%20Add%20chicken.%20Cook%20for%20approximately%208%20minutes,%20or%20until%20chicken%20pieces%20is%20completely%20cooked%20and%20sauce%20has%20thickened.%20Remove%20from%20heat.%20To%20assemble%20the%20salad,%20layer%20the%20romaine%20lettuce,%20shredded%20carrots%20and%20cabbage%20in%20the%20bottom%20of%20a%20bowl.%20Add%20chicken,%20a%20tablespoon%20of%20salted%20nuts%20and%20drizzle%20the%20chicken%20and%20peanuts%20with%20additional%20sauce.%20Top%20with%20the%20chow%20mein%20noodles%20and%20serve.%20%203.2.2925%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
