.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEven%20before%20my%20family%20arrived%20in%20Perth,%20discussions%20about%20the%20full%20moon%20party%20for%20Asher%20has%20already%20begun.%20Grandma%20even%20brought%20the%20dye%20for%20the%20red%20eggs.%20After%20all,%20it's%20a%20party%20that%20announces%20our%20baby%20boy-%20their%20grandson/greatgrandson.%20Full%20moon%20celebration%20is%20a%20tradition%20where%20family%20and%20friends%20gather%20to%20see%20the%20baby%20and%20feast%20on%20food.%20I%20think%20it's%20something%20to%20do%20with%20how%20babies%20die%20easily%20in%20the%20olden%20days,%20hence%20reaching%20a%20full%20month%20is%20a%20milestone.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20day%20arrive%20faster%20than%20expected.%20What%20happen%20to%20our%20newborn%20fresh%20out%20of%20the%20oven?%20Already%20he%20is%20longer%20(6cm!)%20and%20his%20hair%20has%20grown.%20He%20knows%20who%20will%20cuddle%20him%20the%20way%20he%20likes%20it%20and%20who%20is%20his%20food%20source%20(me!).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20mum%20and%20Asher%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20kitchen%20buzzed%20the%20day%20before%20and%20madness%20emerge%20on%20the%20morning%20of%20the%20event.%20Grandma's%20arm%20isn't%20exactly%20healed%20so%20mum%20and%20I%20made%20her%20famous%20Yam%20Cake.%20The%20house%20smelt%20of%20vinegar%20as%20we%20cooked%20the%20confinement%20special%20of%20Sweet%20and%20Sour%20Vinegar%20with%20ribs%20rather%20than%20pork%20trotter.%20Ginger%20was%20peeled%20and%20grated%20for%20the%20Ginger%20Wine%20Chicken.%20I%20%20threw%20in%20a%20mix%20and%20made%20a%20salad%20by%20roasting%20some%20pumpkin%20(to%20my%20grandma's%20horror!)%20and%20prepared%20a%20batter%20for%20my%20clean%20eating%20Carrot%20Cupcakes%20with%20Cream%20Cheese%20Yogurt%20Frosting.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMum%20was%20the%20chef,%20I%20was%20the%20sou%20chef%20and%20Grandma%20was%20the%20supervisor.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAsher%20eyeing%20the%20food%20before%20the%20party.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20dear%20friends%20came%20early%20to%20put%20up%20some%20decorations%20for%20us.%20Love%20these%20poms%20poms!%20So%20much%20so%20that%20I'm%20going%20to%20recycle%20and%20use%20them%20to%20decorate%20Asher's%20room.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFood%20and%20more%20food.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20feels%20great%20to%20%22show%22%20Asher%20off.%20They%20say%20a%20baby%20brings%20joy%20to%20the%20family%20and%20now%20I%20know%20why.%20We%20had%2054%20guests.%20Asher%20is%20very%20very%20blessed-%20like%20his%20name.%20And%20it%20shows.%20Aunties%20and%20uncles%20love%20and%20cuddled%20him.%20Gifts%20were%20showered.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20know%20how%20they%20say%20kids%20seem%20to%20behave%20well%20for%20others%20but%20not%20for%20parents.%20Well,%20no%20one%20told%20me%20that%20it%20starts%20THAT%20early.%20Asher%20slept%20pretty%20through%20the%20whole%20thing%20(just%20not%20really%20the%20night%20before)%20and%20behaved%20like%20an%20angel...%20except%20before%20his%20feed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20shared%20recipes%20before%20I%20delivered%20in%20previous%20posts-%20very%20irrelevant%20to%20Asher.%20This%20time%20round%20though,%20I%20thought%20I%20would%20share%20my%20grandma's%20version%20of%20Ginger%20Wine%20Chicken%20that%20we%20served%20at%20the%20party.%20My%20mum%20makes%20an%20equally%20delicious%20version%20as%20well.%20While%20it%20is%20laden%20with%20alcohol%20and%20not%20recommended%20to%20have%20it%20just%20before%20breast%20feeding%20(Preferably%20at%20least%202%20hours%20before),%20the%20dish%20is%20meant%20to%20nourish%20the%20body%20and%20increase%20warmth.%20Warmth%20helps%20remove%20any%20%22wetness%22%20and%20helps%20the%20uterus%20contracts%20back.%20Certainly%20I%20felt%20weak%20the%20days%20following%20the%20birth%20and%20was%20glad%20of%20nourishing%20food%20that%20helped.%20I'm%20sure%20all%20the%20guests%20enjoyed%20a%20mix%20of%20traditional%20and%20not%20so%20traditional%20(sushi!?)%20at%20the%20party.%20Asher%20though,%20was%20the%20star.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESaute%20half%20of%20the%20ginger.%20Brown%20chicken%20quickly.%20Adding%20the%20red%20dates%20and%20water.%20Simmer%20it%20to%20a%20boil.%20Add%20in%20peanuts.%20cook%20till%20peanuts%20turn%20soft.%20Then%20add%20in%20black%20fungus.%20Simmer%20for%20another%2015%20minutes%20or%20so.%20Add%20in%20Dom%20and%20cook%20for%20another%205-10%20mins.%20Taste%20and%20adjust%20salt%20accordingly.%20Drizzle%20with%20sesame%20oil%20before%20serving.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
