Further to my submission of a recipe for Lahmacun. I was going through my files and discovered this recipe for Armenian Cheese Pies, the recipe for the base of this pie is similar to that given ,so it can also be used for the Lahmacun base.and is named Missahatz or Lahmajoon.

- For the topping. in a heavy saucepan heat the oil over moderate heat. add the onions and saute until lightly brown, stirring often
- Add tomato puree, canned tomatoes, thyme, oregano, garlic powder, salt and cayenne.
- cook over low heat for 45 minutes.
- remove from the heat and cool,
- add cheese and mix well
- spread about 1/3 of a cup of the topping on each circle of dough, drizzle 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of olive oil over each and bake 8 to 10 minutes in oven until golden brown as for pizza.
