- For the topping, heat 1 tsp. butter in heavy skillet. Add in apples and saute/fry till caramelized. About 3 min.
- Combine remaining 3 Tbsp. of butter and brown sugar in a small saucepan and heat till blended.
- Butter a 10 inch pan and spread brown sugar mix in bottom. Arrange apple splices in pan in concentric circles. Set aside.
- For cake, preheat oven to 350. Cream butter and sugar till fluffy. Add in Large eggs and beat till light. Add in vanilla.
- Add in dry ingredients alternately with lowfat milk, mixing to combine. Spread batter proportionately over apples.
- Bake till cake springs back when touched. About 1 hour.
- Let stand 10 min and invert onto cake plate. Let cold. Serve slightly hot.
