Apple Pie
- Apple Pie~ Even better with a Scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream~
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 T flour
- 3/4 t ground cinnamon
- 1/4 t ground apple pie spice or allspice
- 1/4 t salt
- 1 T lemon juice
- 6 cups thinly sliced, peeled cooking apples (about 6 medium)
- 1 T butter
- beaten egg and sugar
1- box refrigerated pie crusts, softened as directed on box
Heat oven to 425. Place 1 pie crust in ungreased 9-inch glass pie plate. Press firmly against sides and bottom.
In large bowl gently mix filling ingredients; sugar, flour, cinnamon, apple pie spice, salt, lemon juice and apples. Spoon into crust lined pie plate. Dot with butter. Top with second crust. Wrap excessive top crust under bottom crust edge, pressing edges together with tines of fork to seal. Cut 4 slits or shapes in several places in top crust. Brush top crust with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar. Cover edges of crust with 2-3 inch strip of foil to prevent excessive browning. Remove foil after 20 minutes of baking.
Bake for 40-45 minutes or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.
