Many Texans turn up their noses at putting beans in chili, but I happen to like beans.
Secret ingredient: Lipton's dry soup mix.

- Cook the ground beef and drain it well.
- Salute the onions in a tsp oil until almost golden, then add garlic (use a medium high heat).
- Throw everything into a pot (except the thickener), bring to a boil. If chili is too thin for your taste, add the thickener and cook 10 more minutes.
- Remove from heat and cool.
- Refrigerate a day or two before heating and serving.
