%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20also%20gonna%20call%20this%20dish%20semi-homemade,%20because%20all%20I%20did%20was%20cook%20the%20pasta,%20saute%20some%20frozen%20mixed%20veggies%20and%20some%20chicken%20sausage%20slices%20and%20add%20pasta%20sauce%20and%20'voila'%20yummy%20spaghetti%20is%20ready.%20Really%20a%20go-to%20idea%20when%20you%20make%20impromptu%20decisions%20for%20a%20picnic%20:-)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20if%20you%20have%20good%20ol'homemade%20marinara%20sauce/pasta%20sauce%20ready%20at%20hand,%20please%20by%20all%20means%20do%20use%20that%20and%20you%20can%20use%20any%20fresh%20veggies%20of%20your%20choice,%20you%20can%20also%20add%20cooked%20chicken/meat/eggs%20etc,%20its%20so%20versatile%20:-)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELast%20weekend%20we%20made%20a%20quick%20decision%20to%20have%20a%20simple%20picnic%20at%20the%20park.%20My%20initial%20plan%20was%20to%20make%20some%20sandwiches,%20but%20then%20I%20saw%20this%20box%20of%20spaghetti%20rigati%20in%20my%20pantry%20and%20thought%20I%20would%20use%20that%20up.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20started%20boiling%20the%20pasta,%20meantime%20cut%20up%20the%20sausage,%20fried%20them%20in%20little%20canola%20oil,%20sauted%20the%20veggies%20in%20same%20pan,%20added%20the%20pasta%20sauce%20and%20once%20the%20pasta%20was%20done%20added%20the%20spaghetti%20to%20the%20sauce%20and%20mixed%20well%20and%20at%20the%20end,%20added%202%20cheddar%20cheese%20slices%20on%20top%20and%20covered%20the%20pan%20and%20turned%20off%20my%20stove,%20allowing%20the%20cheese%20to%20melt.%20All%20done%20in%2020%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOur%20picnic%20menu%20included%20the%20Spaghetti%20I%20made,%20some%20Strawberries%20and%20Cherries%20,%20Tortilla%20chips%20and%20some%20goldfish%20crackers%20for%20Appu.%20Then%20we%20had%20water%20and%20soft%20drinks%20etc.%20Simple%20and%20homely!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOur%20little%20guy%20had%20lots%20of%20fun%20at%20the%20park...running%20over%20the%20grass%20carefree,%20with%20no%20baby%20proofing%20anywhere%20and%20lots%20of%20space%20:-)%20He%20ran%20behind%202%20crows%20for%20sometime%20and%20then%20got%20bored,%20as%20they%20kept%20flying%20off%20before%20he%20could%20go%20and%20say%20Hi...Duh!%20I'm%20sure%20he%20likes%20dogs,%20coz%20everytime%20one%20would%20pass%20by%20he%20would%20stand%20and%20wave%20in%20full%20delight%20until%20he%20lost%20sight%20of%20the%20dog%20:-)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh%20and%20he%20did%20meet%20few%20little%20kids%20his%20size,%20who%20inturn%20were%20really%20happy%20to%20see%20him%20:-)%20They%20kept%20pointing%20at%20things%20and%20saying%20something%20in%20their%20own%20laguages...I%20guess%20they%20understood%20each%20other%20more%20than%20we%20understood%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EManish%20and%20I%20decided%20to%20do%20Canoeing%20after%20a%20looooong%20time.%20Little%20M%20found%20it%20very%20boring%20to%20stand%20in%20the%20canoe%20wearing%20a%20huge%20life-jacket%20and%20not%20being%20able%20to%20paddle%20while%20his%20dad%20had%20all%20the%20fun,%20so%20he%20kept%20fussing%20now%20and%20then.%20I%20was%20scared%20that%20if%20I%20move%20too%20much%20the%20boat%20would%20topple%20;-P%20and%20Manish%20had%20all%20the%20fun%20trying%20to%20paddle%20and%20going%20in%20all%20the%20wrong%20directions...hahaha!!%20But%20all%20over%20it%20was%20an%20amazing%20experience.%20After%20reaching%20ashore%20we%20let%20Manav%20play%20with%20the%20paddle%20for%20sometime%20so%20that%20he%20also%20feels%20he%20did%20something%20useful%20;-)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20all%20this%20we%20were%20hungry%20ofcourse,%20our%20picnic%20spread%20was%20just%20good%20enough%20for%20the%203%20of%20us.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20took%20a%20spot%20by%20the%20lake%20side%20and%20in%20the%20shade%20and%20happily%20gorged%20on%20the%20food.%20You%20can%20see%20how%20everyone%20literally%20gulped%20the%20food%20;-)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyway%20on%20to%20my%20quick%20and%20easy%20recipe%20now.%20This%20recipe%20makes%20enough%20pasta%20to%20serve%203-4%20people%20actually,%20but%20I%20used%20it%20as%20I%20dint%20want%20any%20leftover%20pasta%20or%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpaghetti%20Rigati%20with%20Saute'ed%20Veggies%20&%20Chicken%20Sausage%20in%20Pasta%20Sauce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou'll%20Need%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Cook%20the%20pasta%20as%20per%20packet%20instructions.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Heat%20the%20oil%20in%20a%20pan/kadai%20,%20add%20the%20Chcicken%20sausage%20and%20fry%20them%20until%20it%20turns%20brown.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Now%20add%20in%20the%20veggies%20and%20Italian%20seasonings%20and%20cook%20until%20the%20veggies%20are%20soft.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Add%20the%20pasta%20sauce%20and%20mix%20everything%20well%20and%20simmer%20for%202%20minutes.%20Add%20some%20salt%20if%20needed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E5.%20Finally%20toss%20in%20the%20spaghetti%20and%20again%20mix%20well%20so%20that%20the%20sauce%20is%20coated%20everywhere%20on%20the%20spaghetti.(If%20the%20spaghetti%20looks%20dry,%20add%20some%20pasta%20water%20and%20toss%20again.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6.%20Cook%20for%202%20minutes%20and%20turn%20off%20the%20heat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E7.%20Cut%20the%20cheddar%20cheese%20into%20smaller%20squares%20and%20place%20them%20on%20top%20of%20the%20spaghetti%20and%20cover%20the%20pan/kadai%20with%20a%20lid%20and%20keep%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EManish,%20who%20isn't%20a%20pasta%20lover%20generally,%20really%20found%20this%20dish%20tasty,%20even%20my%20Little%20Appu%20ate%20a%20few%20strings%20of%20pasta%20:-)%20Wish%20I%20had%20a%20snap%20of%20that%20to%20prove%20it%20to%20you....next%20time!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20like%20adding%20the%20Cheddar%20cheese%20slices%20on%20top%20as%20that's%20how%20my%20mom%20used%20to%20do%20when%20we(me%20and%20my%20sis)%20were%20little%20kids%20and%20we%20used%20to%20dig%20out%20the%20pasta%20pieces%20coated%20with%20the%20cheese%20:-)%20You%20could%20add%20more%20cheese%20as%20per%20you%20choice.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHope%20you%20had%20fun%20reading%20this%20post%20as%20much%20as%20I%20had%20writing%20it...So%20what%20are%20your%20plans%20for%20the%20weekend?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-Manju%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
