- 1 c. shortening
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 2 teaspoon soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 c. boiling water

- Cream sugar and shortening well; add in large eggs and beat. Sift together flour and cocoa. Add in flour-cocoa mix and remaining ingredients, except boiling water, and mix; then add in boiling water and mix. Batter will be very thin. Pour into 2 (8 or possibly 9 inch) pans.Bake in moderate 350 degree oven for about 30 min.
- Frost with Fudge Frosting.
