- For cake, cream together shortening and sugar. Add in large eggs. Sift flour and add in to egg mix, alternately with lowfat milk. Add in vanilla. Pour 2 tbsp batter in well greased 8" or possibly 9" cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 to 7 min for each layer. Cool on rack till finished all 18 layers.Frost with frosting. Mix together sufficient hot water with sugar and cocoa to make a paste. Add in lowfat milk and butter and bring to a rolling boil. Take off heat and spread on layers.
