%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBeef-Veal-Ricotta%20Meatballs%20in%20a%20White%20Wine%20Sauce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESome%20people%20prefer%20the%20good%20news-bad%20news-good%20news%20sandwich%20(you%20know,%20like%20the%20compliment%20sandwich);%20me,%20I%20prefer%20serving%20the%20bad%20news%20open-faced%20and%20supported%20by%20a%20solid%20cushion%20of%20good%20news.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20here%20it%20is.%20The%20bad%20news:%20it%E2%80%99s%20been%20really%20fracking%20cold%20here%20and%20it%E2%80%99s%20still%20technically%20autumn.%20Bla.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20good%20news:%20citrus%20is%20about%20to%20get%20really%20tasty%20and%20it%20is%20now%20seasonally%20appropriate%20to%20crank%20the%20oven%20and%20cook%20rib-sticking%20meals.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESee,%20it%E2%80%99s%20not%20so%20bad,%20right?%20And%20if%20you%E2%80%99re%20lucky%20like%20us%20and%20have%20radiators%20that%20keep%20your%20apartment%20at%20a%20perpetual%2085%20degrees%20(at%20least),%20you%20can%20still%20get%20away%20with%20wearing%20next%20to%20nothing%20and%20pretending%20that%20it%E2%80%99s%20still%20warmer%20out.%20(Aside:%20since%20we%20can%20access%20the%20store%20beneath%20us%20via%20an%20interior%20elevator,%20I%20really%20enjoy%20finding%20the%20flimsiest%20excuse%20to%20go%20there%20on%20a%20really%20cold%20day%20dressed%20in%20a%20tank%20top,%20skirt%20and%20flip-flops%20and%20mess%20with%20all%20of%20the%20other%20customers.%20It%E2%80%99s%20so%20much%20fun.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20to%20resume:%20a%20few%20weeks%20ago%20I%20was%20at%20the%20first%20annual%20New%20York%20Produce%20Show%20and%20Conference%20and%20had%20done%20a%20few%20laps%20around%20all%20of%20the%20booths,%20slowly%20acquiring%20a%20few%20bags%20of%20swag.%20The%20thing%20is%20with%20a%20produce%20show%20is%20that%20swag%20is%20not%20contained%20to%20brochures,%20pens%20and%20other%20giveaway%20items%20that%20you%20can%20order%20in%20l0ts%20of%20500%E2%80%93you%20also%20can%20receive%20actual%20food.%20The%20folks%20at%20Duda%20Fresh%20Produce%20kindly%20bestowed%20a%20bag%20of%20Meyer%20lemons%20to%20me%20after%20I%20cooed%20(yes,%20that%20is%20the%20appropriate%20word)%20about%20how%20much%20I%20love%20those%20little%20lemon-tangerine%20hybrids%20and%20that%20Giada%20DeLaurentiis%20was%20the%20person%20to%20introduce%20them%20to%20me%20years%20ago%20on%20Everyday%20Italian.%20One%20of%20the%20great%20pieces%20of%20information%20that%20I%20picked%20up%20at%20the%20show%20was%20that%20many%20of%20the%20%E2%80%9Cspecialty%E2%80%9D%20citrus%20varieties%20like%20Meyer%20lemons%20are%20no%20longer%20limited%20to%20the%20month-long%20growing%20windows%20of%20old%20because%20more%20growers%20have%20the%20trees%20in%20their%20groves,%20which%20makes%20them%20more%20accessible%20and%20also%20(hopefully)%20a%20little%20cheaper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20acquisition%20necessitated%20finding%20an%20appropriate%20vehicle%20for%20them%20immediately,%20so%20I%20started%20flipping%20through%20my%20cookbooks%20that%20weekend%E2%80%A6but%20nothing%20was%20jumping%20out%20at%20me.%20Mario%20Batali%20had%20an%20intriguing%20fresh%20pasta%20recipe%20that%20brought%20lemon%20zest%20to%20the%20party%20that%20sort%20of%20held%20my%20interest,%20but%20Michael%20rightly%20vetoed%20it%20in%20the%20end.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMeyer%20Lemon-Pericatelli%20with%20Chives%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20I%20decide%20to%20do%20a%20little%20browsing%20on%20David%20Rocco%E2%80%99s%20website.%20His%20show%20David%20Rocco%E2%80%99s%20Dolce%20Vita%20tends%20to%20reduce%20me%20into%20a%20pool%20of%20seething%20envy%20and%20extreme%20hunger%20between%20his%20gorgeous%20travelogue%20of%20Italy%20and%20the%20mouthwatering%20recipes%20he%20makes%20every%20episode,%20so%20I%20figured%20I%E2%80%99d%20find%20something.%20His%20Spaghetti%20al%20Limone%20was%20pretty%20classic%20(not%20all%20that%20different%20from%20Giada%E2%80%99s)%20but%20was%20the%20impetus%20I%20needed%20to%20start%20switching%20some%20of%20the%20flavors%20a%20bit.%20We%E2%80%99ve%20been%20getting%20Grana%20Pandano%20in%20lieu%20of%20Parmigiano-Reggiano%20because%20it%E2%80%99s%20been%20cheaper%20at%20both%20Murray%E2%80%99s%20and%20Fairway%20by%20a%20couple%20dollars%20a%20pound,%20and%20I%20was%20in%20the%20mood%20for%20a%20different%20herb%20here%E2%80%93just%20something%20different%20than%20either%20basil%20(expensive%20and%20so%20delicate)%20or%20parsley%20(just%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20feeling%20it).%20If%20I%20had%20some%20fresh%20green%20garlic%20growing%20at%20home%20I%E2%80%99d%20totally%20snip%20off%20some%20of%20the%20shoot%20and%20use%20it,%20but%20since%20that%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20an%20option%20some%20chives%20worked%20quite%20well.%20The%20recipe%20is%20below%E2%80%93I%20think%20it%20needs%20a%20bit%20of%20tweaking%20(maybe%20blending%20in%20more%20regular%20lemon%20or%20tangerine%20zest/juice%20and%20using%20angel%20hair%20instead%20of%20a%20thicker%20pasta),%20but%20for%20something%20fast%20and%20still%20quite%20delicious%20it%E2%80%99s%20worth%20a%20try.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3En%20the%20meantime,%20just%20go%20ahead%20and%20make%20David%20Rocco%E2%80%99s%20meatballs.%20Who%20knew%20that%20ricotta%20cheese%20would%20serve%20well%20as%20a%20delicious%20binder?%20I%E2%80%99ll%20tell%20you%20what:%20Michael,%20the%20ricotta-eschewer%20in%20our%20household,%20inhaled%20these%20spheres%20of%20cheesy,%20meaty%20goodness%20to%20the%20point%20where%20we%20had%20no%20leftovers,%20so%20clearly%20something%20is%20going%20well%20in%20this%20recipe.%20The%20next%20step%20is%20to%20try%20this%20technique%20with%20ground%20turkey%20to%20add%20a%20little%20richness%20into%20our%20weeknight%20staple.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMeyer%20Lemon-Pericatelli%20with%20Chives%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eserves%202%20with%20leftovers%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBring%202%20quarts%20of%20water%20to%20a%20boil%20and%20salt%20well%20and%20cook%20pasta%20to%20about%20a%20minute%20shorter%20than%20package%20directions.%20Reserve%20a%20cup%20of%20the%20pasta%20cooking%20liquid%20if%20needed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20lemon%20juice,%20cheese%20and%20olive%20oil%20into%20a%20bowl%20and%20season%20with%20salt%20and%20pepper;%20whisk%20to%20combine.%20When%20pasta%20has%20been%20drained%20and%20returned%20to%20the%20pot,%20add%20contents%20of%20bowl%20and%20toss%20well%20to%20coat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20zest%20and%20chives%20and%20toss%20again;%20season%20with%20more%20salt%20and%20pepper%20if%20desired.%20Serve%20immediately.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
