%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHibiscus%20Margaritas%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%E2%80%A6meaning%20I%20had%20a%20legitimate%20day%20off.%20%20To%20paraphrase%20Cher%20Horowitz%20from%20Clueless:%20%20an%20entire%20day%20off%20on%20a%20sunny,%20slightly%20unseasonably%20warm%20spring%20day?!?%20%20I%20was%20beyond%20excited,%20and%20therefore%20took%20over%20the%20cooking%20duties%20for%20the%20day.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(Image%20from%20Showtime.com)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20plan%20was%20simple:%20%20go%20to%20the%20Union%20Square%20Greenmarket%20for%20some%20supplies,%20fill%20in%20at%20Whole%20Foods%20where%20appropriate,%20and%20make%20some%20delicious,%20unconventional%20margaritas,%20all%20while%20we%20re-watched%20the%20fourth%20season%20of%20Weeds.%20%20It%20easily%20ranks%20among%20my%20favorite%20shows,%20but%20it%20took%20me%20some%20time%20to%20warm%20up%20to%20the%20post-Agrestic/Majestic%20seasons%20as%20they%20take%20a%20decidedly%20darker,%20more%20sordid%20turn%20compared%20to%20the%20many%20sunny%20and%20satirical%20observations%20made%20on%20modern%20suburban%20life.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20could%20easily%20identify%20with%20protagonist%20Nancy%20Botwin%E2%80%99s%20ennui%20by%20the%20end%20of%20the%20third%20season%20that%20prompts%20her%20to%20move%20in%20a%20rather%20irrevocable%20way%20that%20I%20won%E2%80%99t%20get%20into,%20but%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20think%20I%20completely%20understood%20the%20jarring%20culture%20shock%20that%20she%20goes%20through%20until%20we%20moved%20from%20New%20Haven%20to%20New%20York.%20%20On%20the%20surface%20it%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20all%20that%20different%20(and%20we%20certainly%20weren%E2%80%99t%20escaping%20little%20boxes%20made%20of%20ticky-tacky%20as%20we%20lived%20over%20the%20oldest%20pharmacy%20in%20the%20city),%20but%20I%20felt%20a%20palpable%20jolt%20that%20first%20morning%20I%20wandered%20out%20to%20find%20the%20M60%20stop%20to%20get%20me%20to%20the%20train%20station%E2%80%93a%20mixture%20of%20excitement%20and%20a%20little%20wariness%20of%20the%20unknown.%20%20Channeling%20Nancy%E2%80%99s%20steeliness%20and%20her%20normally%20unflappable%20%E2%80%9Cf-it,%20let%E2%80%99s%20roll%20with%20this%E2%80%9D%20mentality,%20I%20boarded%20the%20bus%20and%20quickly%20adapted%20into%20my%20new%20commute.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWell,%20once%20I%20figured%20out%20in%20which%20direction%20to%20insert%20the%20damn%20MetroCard.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESalsa%20Verde%20de%20Tres%20Cebollas%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhich%20brings%20us%20to%20dinner.%20%20My%20initial%20intention%20was%20to%20get%20lots%20and%20lots%20of%20ramps%20to%20make%20a%20singular%20green%20salsa,%20alas,%20none%20were%20available%20at%20the%20Friday%20incarnation%20of%20the%20Union%20Square%20market%20and%20so%20I%20had%20to%20think%20on%20my%20feet%20to%20determine%20a%20replacement.%20%20I%20paced%20the%20abbreviated%20length%20of%20the%20market%20a%20few%20times%20before%20catching%20a%20whiff%20of%20fresh%20spring%20garlic,%20and%20like%20a%20moth%20to%20a%20flame%20I%20happily%20picked%20up%20a%20bunch%20of%20it%20along%20with%20a%20bunch%20of%20organic%20scallions%20and%20a%20small%20red%20onion.%20Adding%20to%20that%20some%20white%20balsamic%20vinegar,%20parsley,%20cilantro,%20olive%20oil%20and%20salt%20and%20a%20strange%20but%20delicious%20concoction%20materialized.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20first%20six%20ingredients%20into%20a%20bowl,%20and%20then%20toss%20with%20the%20olive%20oil%20and%20then%20the%20vinegar.%20%20Add%20salt%20to%20taste,%20and%20serve%20immediately.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThree-Cheese%20Quesadillas%20with%20Salsa%20Verde%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20quesadillas%20could%20not%20have%20been%20simpler:%20%20a%20blend%20of%20three%20cheeses%20(an%20Australian%20white%20cheddar,%20a%20California%20yellow%20cheddar%20and%20a%20little%20ricotta%20salata)%20spread%20out%20on%20tortillas,%20baked%20in%20the%20oven%20at%20400%20degrees%20or%20so%20for%20about%205-8%20minutes,%20and%20voil%C3%A0:%20easy%20first%20course%20and%20a%20perfect,%20simple%20delivery%20mechanism%20for%20the%20flavorful%20salsa.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EShrimp%20with%20Mojo%20de%20Ajo%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20garlicky%20shrimp%20came%20out%20of%20the%20Antojitos%20cookbook,%20and%20really%20should%20be%20reserved%20for%20serious%20garlic%20fans%20only%E2%80%93three%20heads%20of%20roasted%20garlic%20are%20pureed%20with%20some%20cilantro,%20more%20minced%20garlic,%20some%20crushed%20red%20pepper%20and%20olive%20oil%20to%20make%20a%20simple%20sauce%20and%20then%20served%20over%20saut%C3%A9ed%20shrimp.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20wash%20all%20of%20it%20down%20I%20made%20some%20Hibiscus%20Margaritas,%20made%20with%20hibiscus%20agua%20fresca.%20%20An%20ounce%20of%20dried%20hibiscus%20flowers%20(found%20in%20the%20Mexican/Latin%20section%20of%20your%20grocery%20store%20or%20possibly%20in%20the%20tea%20section%20if%20it%E2%80%99s%20a%20good%20one,%20also%20available%20online)%20is%20steeped%20for%20ten%20minutes%20in%20boiling%20water,%20strained%20out%20into%20a%20pitcher,%20and%20then%20a%20quarter%20to%20half-cup%20of%20sugar%20is%20
