%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20week%20I%20have%20all%20about%20completely%20purposing%20whatever%20I%20have%20on%20hand%20after%20a%20slew%20of%20over-blown%20saucy%20outings%20that%20I%20have%20yet%20to%20even%20write%20about,%20let%20alone%20commend%20the%20leftovers%20to%20the%20deep%20as%20they%20are%20now%20weeks%20beyond%20prime.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20today,%20I%E2%80%99m%20going%20to%20do%20something%20different.%20This%20was%20a%20mid-week%20meal%20I%20came%20up%20with%20off%20the%20top%20of%20my%20head,%20made%20entirely%20out%20of%20nothing%20more%20than%20a%20fresh%20protein,%20a%20piece%20of%20fruit,%20a%20root%20and%20some%20stuff%20out%20of%20the%20pantry.%20So,%20a%20brief%20bit%20of%20free-styling%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBegin%20with%20browning%20some%20chicken%20thighs%20[Ed.--M%20did%208%20because%20we%20liked%20leftovers]%20in%20olive%20oil%20over%20medium-high%20(~5%20min%20per%20side).%20I%20halved%20a%20bulb%20of%20garlic%20and%20added%20each%20half%20face%20down%20to%20the%20pan.%20Next,%20add%20a%20splash%20(2%20tbsp%20each)%20of%20both%20balsamic%20and%20sherry%20vinegar%20and%20bubble%20until%20reduced.%20Next,%20add%20a%20thinly%20sliced%20lemon%20(slivers%20on%20top%20of%20the%20chicken)%20and%20additional%20splashes%20of%20Worcestershire%20and%20fish%20sauce%20and%20again%20bubble%20for%205%20minutes.%20After%20that,%20add%20enough%20red%20vermouth%20to%20completely%20deglaze%20the%20pan%20and%20leave%20a%20thin%20layer%20of%20liquid%20all%20around.%20Lower%20the%20heat%20and%20add%20a%20probe%20thermometer%20and%20make%20sure%20your%20meats%20are%20at%20170%20F%20before%20lifting%20the%20birdie%20bits%20out.%20%20You%20should%20probably%20flip%20the%20chicken%20again%20in%20there%20somewhere,%20maybe%20during%20or%20after%20you%20add%20the%20lemon%20and%20sauces.%20Towards%20the%20end,%20squeeze%20the%20garlic%20halves%20with%20tongs%20to%20liberate%20the%20soft%20lovely%20cloves%20within%20into%20the%20pan.%20This%20is%20not%20a%20saucy%20finished%20dish,%20so%20serve%20atop%20cheesy%20brown%20rice.%20[Ed.--We%20used%20sharp%20white%20cheddar%20because%20we%20had%20it%20and%20it%20worked%20quite%20well%20given%20this%20cacophony%20of%20ingredients]%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20that%E2%80%99s%20that.%20Dear%20readers:%20waste%20not,%20want%20not.%20Experiment%20on%20your%20friends%20and%20family%20to%20use%20up%20those%20surplus%20foodstuffs.%20The%20worst%20thing%20that%20will%20happen%20is%20that%20you%E2%80%99ll%20have%20to%20order%20a%20pizza%20for%20dinner.%20And%20is%20that%20so%20bad?%20Until%20next%20time,%20cook%20on!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
