Help please.
I need to know how to smoke oysters on the bbq. i.e., how long approximately, seasonings, if any, etc. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I posted the last request a few hours ago, because I thought my poor old Totem Food Smoker had died. DH came home from work and tried the same electrical outlet that I had tried to use. Umm...I didn't know that it is a persnickety outlet with a reset button. LOL!!
Anyway, I had already used the bbq and had great success! Tomorrow, I get to play at smoking sockeye salmon in the smoker. Yaaay! Oh, and DH wants me to use some of the halibut too! OMG, I am going to have so much fun!
Preheat barbecue grill. Scrub the oyster shells under cold running water with a brush. Discard any open shells, as the oyster is dead and not edible
Place oysters (cup side on bottom) on hot grill about 4 inches from hot coals. Cover barbecue with lid, open any vents, and cook 8 to 10 minutes (depending on size) or until shells begin to open to indicate doneness.
Remove all oysters when the first one opens. NOTE: I always personally check over all live oysters that I buy to make sure they are alive when purchasing. Some shells will not be opened, so some prying will be necessary. Using a mitt or towel to protect your hand, remove the oysters from the grill, taking care not to spill their juices.
Pry the oysters the rest of the way open with an oyster knife, paring knife, or screwdriver. Sever the muscle that connect the shells, leaving the oyster on the half shell. Transfer onto a serving platter.
Serve with melted butter, your favorite hot sauce, and lemon wedges.
Thanks Claudia, I know how to cook them, but wanted to know how to "smoke" them without overcooking them. I managed to figure it out, but now that my smoker is working again, would rather use that, as it doesn't get quite so hot.

LOL, thanks Mom Chef. I found a few of those sites, but then found I was getting bogged down with information while those poor oysters were loafing around in the fridge waiting for me to do "something, anything" with them. I kept it simple and they turned out really well.
I like to smoke a salmon from time to time. But I always have trouble keeping it lit...

I smoked the salmon in the smoker...it was a tight fit, but we both turned out well...okay, this conversation is deteriorating rapidly.
