Re: Ask me any question on your Nuwave

I had bad results when trying to cook a 10 lb. turkey. The skin facing up got too dark; and when I tried covering it with aluminum foil the fan kept blowing it loose. When I cook turkey in my conventional oven I start it out for the first 30 minutes at 375 degrees F, and then drop it down to 325 for the remainder of the required cooking time. Should I adjust the power setting on my NuWave in a similar fashion when cooking a turkey?

Re: Ask me any question on your Nuwave

As far as tin foil is concerned - you need to "wrap" it around the turkey. Or "form" it to the turkey. If it is a cassarole (I place it under the dish - wrapping it around the top). Sure that might use more tin foil, but it works :). Tin foil is not all that expensive and works well.

Re: Ask me any question on your Nuwave

I just got my nuwave and have read the instructions. I want to cook some chicken wings.I was told by a friend to wrap the pan in foil (for easy cleanup) Looks like I do them about 20 min 10 on each side.
rack 4" on #1. Does this sound right?

Or you can cook them a total of 20 minutes. You do not need to flip them - unless you want to. It only will brown the other side of the food. I nomally put it on the rack and cook it. I do turn chicken tenders I bread. But even if you let them cook on one side - it still works. If I am in a hurry I just let them cook on one side. or 1/2 way though I flip it. all depends on what you like :) If you like to flip it, sure you can!

Re: Ask me any question on your Nuwave

Hi Wendy, I have only had my Nuwave oven for about a week and I really like it a lot.

I tried baking both cookies and cornbread on the liner and found that the cookies and the cornbread had problems cooking on the bottom. do you have any general baking tips?

Thanks--Rich

cooking a supermarket-bought frozen dessert

Hi Wendy, I just got the oven recently and want to heat up a gourmet frozen individual serving applecrisp I bought at the supermarket (it's from Safeway's gourmet line of prepared, frozen entrees and desserts). What's the best way to do that in the NuWave?

Are there some general guidelines for converting conventional oven instructions to nuwave instructions, for frozen entrees and desserts? thanks! Steve

Re: Ask me any question on your Nuwave

Hello Wendy,
Does placing aluminum foil under meat or fish on the grill compromise the length of cooking time?
Thanks, Philip

Re: Ask me any question on your Nuwave

Steve baked goods can be tricky. Good news what you were cooking is pretty easy. Find the temp on what it is asking you cook. say if it is 350 you just 1/2 the time - I would cover it with tin foil for the first part of cooking and take off the foil the last 8-10 minutes. since it is a nuwave if it says bake 40 minutes at 350 - it would mean to me 20 minutes in my nuwave (check at 10 see how it is doing) - pull the foil and check in 10 more minutes. if it is at a higher heat you need to add lots more time. The nuwaves max heat is 350. sof 425 means to me add about 10 - 15 more minutes of cooking time to that item. Some items to not cross over well. The nuwave can cook just about anything. It gets odd with baked goods. Cookies work great 1/2 time. cobblers, pudding etc. cakes not so much

Re: Ask me any question on your Nuwave

Foil just keeps it from burning mostly. It keeps moisture "in" so if leave it on a cobbler the full time = soggy. So, remove it 3/4 of the way though cooking. This way it browns and can "let steam" cook away. Depending on what you cooking - I normally do this for 90% of my recipes. They work out 90% time and if it is new and I never have done it before - some items fail - cakes are the hard one I have not figued out - cupcakes. Anything with "cake" in the name use a normal oven.
