Re: Is Turkey bacon really kosher?

It really depends on your standards. All parts of kosher poultry are kosher, including the fat. But poultry and other kinds of kosher animals be prepared in a specific way: The slaughter is done by a trained, Orthodox Jew, and the meat is then soaked and salted in a special procedure to remove blood. Liver is not soaked and salted, but broiled.
Kosher brands, like Empire, have certification by a supervising agency like the Orthodox Union (OU). So Orthodox Jews would not eat Oscar Mayer.
It is a big step to become strictly kosher, best done gradually and with the help of someone who is very knowledgeable and has common sense, who can guide you through the process.
