Rather a little late, I have just seen Julie and Julia. Now I'm obssessed with Julia Child recipes - I just love them. So these days you'll find me in the kitchen (as they seem to take most of the day) or down at the supermarket buying more butter. That's when I'm not picking kids up from school or taking them to sports practice or drama school. And when I haven't got my mum hat on I like to catch up with friends for a glass (or two) of wine, walk in the forest or along the river or just blob out in front of the tv or computer looking for new recipes.

I was always been interested in cooking and was cooking the family meals at about 14. Over the years my taste and style has varied greatly and I love stumbling across new (to me) combinations or styles. I have always been a bit of a free style cook and loved asian style meals because you could throw in whatever you had in the cupboards. Now I'm a little older and possibly wiser, I'm beginning to appreciate keeping true to the authenticity of a recipe. I enjoy learning where it's come from and how it got here almost as much as eating it. Therefore I love cook books that tell of a persons background or memory of how a loved one prepared a dish. I love the fact that by writing down that recipe and story it keeps that person/memory alive. Because of this I have some really interesting cookbooks that almost resemble biographies.
I don't dread the different seasons because it means different food moments. Winter means hunkering down with cosy fires and soups, summer is all about the outdoors and bbqs and salads. While autumn and spring are spent hoping for that beautiful day with a mixture of whats in season. Seasonal cooking is what it's about when cooking everyday meals and I enjoy trolling the net for new and delicious ideas.
