Обо мне
I love food and my passion for food opened the door to blogging. It all started when my daughter wanted to try our family recipes after she got married and she was fed up of calling me each time she wanted to cook something. It was her idea that I start a blog to preserve all our traditional family recipes as well as mine. I have been blogging ever since then and enjoying cooking and sharing all my recipes with my readers on my blog as well as on my face book page: https://www.facebook.com/Mamasecretrecipes/.
It gives me an immense pleasure when my readers comment on my blog and I love to Ianswer all their questions. I welcome criticism, be it good or bad as I believe it will help me improve my cooking skills and be a better blogger as well. I would like to thank everyone for all their support and encouragement which has led me this far. I hope to be successful one day and see my dreams come true, no matter how old I grow, I wish to chase my dreams. I still dream of having my own gourmet restaurant with unique dishes even though it could be a remote possibility. I believe nothing is impossible if God wills it.
Кулинарное влияние
My mom was a great cook and I grew up enjoying her delicious simple dishes which she cooked on a charcoal stove using logs of wood to light a fire. I still remember the aroma of the mango fish curry which I hurriedly ate (because it was so good) with steaming boiled rice on a summer afternoon after returning home from school. Her simple fried chicken and her chicken curry which she made by first roasting the whole chicken with the skin on the charcoal flames before cooking it in the curry. This gave the chicken a smoky flavour and it tasted just divine. It was interesting to watch her bake the lentil halwa pies in a huge brass baking dish set up on a bed of charcoal and with burning charcoals on top of its lid as well in order to regulate the temperature. She had her own calculation of time by estimate and she never burnt them. They were so lip smacking and yummy. It is not possible to name all the dishes that she made in her lifetime here, but all I can say is that everybody including me admired her cooking very much and enjoyed the food she served us, every bit of it. Her cooking had a great impact on me and I acquired a lot of skills from her.
The other person to influence me in my cooking is my husband. He is a very picky eater and a great critic. If it was not for his sharp tastebuds I would never have been cooking the food I am today. I grew up enjoying my mom's food and watching her cook, but when I got married my actual cooking skills were put to test. I not only had to eat my own creations but also gain appreciation from my husband as well. My kids are picky eaters too and I had to make different dishes to please each one of them when they were small.
I love to experiment with food and create variations of traditional recipes, I also enjoy and want to preserve our traditional cuisine. Some traditional dishes if not prepared using the exact ingredients, method and technique, the end result is not the same. Our most popular traditional dish "biryani has to be prepared really carefully - right from how we slice the onions and cut the tomatoes to the choice of meat (what portions of the lamb to be used) and also how we cut the meat pieces. It all goes into the taste and flavour. Missing or changing one step can change the whole meal. So everything matters including patience in great cooking. It gives me great pleasure to see my family enjoy the food I cook for them.
