%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20few%20days%20ago,%20I%20saw%20this%20home%20made%20sour%20cream%20gelato%20on%20the%20interwebbies%20and%20knew%20I%20had%20to%20make%20it.%20It%20was%20suggested%20that%20it%20would%20make%20a%20good%20base,%20and%20I%20wondered%20what%20I%20could%20jazz%20it%20up%20with,%20then%20I%20spotted%20the%20strawberries%20in%20the%20supermarket.%20Mara%20des%20bois%20strawberries,%20to%20be%20precise.%20Such%20a%20beautiful%20red,%20so%20juicy,%20sweet%20and%20with%20an%20incredible%20perfume.%20They%20are%20my%20favourite%20strawberries%20by%20a%20country%20mile,%20so%20were%20destined%20to%20feature%20in%20this%20gelato.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20couple%20of%20notes:%20One%20thing%20I%20found%20in%20my%20experimenting%20was%20that%20all%20the%20ingredients%20had%20to%20be%20well%20chilled,%20otherwise%20it%20froze%20too%20slowly%20and%20the%20sour%20cream%20and%20condensed%20milk%20separated%20a%20little.%20I%20did%20change%20the%20quantities%20just%20a%20tad%20so%20that%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20have%20a%20tiny%20bit%20of%20condensed%20milk%20left%20over,%20but%20I%20really%20don%E2%80%99t%20think%20the%20ratios%20are%20that%20far%20off%20that%20it%20would%20make%20a%20difference.%20Also,%20I%20opted%20not%20to%20cook%20the%20strawberries%20because%20I%20prefer%20the%20fresh%20taste,%20but%20that%20does%20mean%20they%20will%20crystallise%20a%20bit.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWash,%20dry%20and%20hull%20the%20strawberries,%20then%20pur%C3%A9e%20to%20desired%20smoothness%20and%20refrigerate%20until%20needed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhisk%20together%20the%20sour%20cream,%20condensed%20milk%20and%20vanilla%20until%20smooth.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20into%20freezing%20container%20(I%20used%20a%20glass%20souffl%C3%A9%20dish,%20but%20a%20large%20loaf%20pan%20would%20work%20well).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlowly%20dribble%20the%20strawberry%20pur%C3%A9e%20into%20the%20sour%20cream%20mixture,%20ensuring%20that%20it%20is%20evenly%20distributed.%20Don%E2%80%99t%20stir!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECover%20the%20container%20tightly%20with%20plastic%20wrap%20and%20freeze%20overnight.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20from%20freezer%2010%20minutes%20or%20so%20before%20serving.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20Loading...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERelated%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
