1 (20 ounce.) can crushed pineapple in heavy syrup
1 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 c. vinegar

1 tbsp. soy sauce
2 tbsp. cornstarch
2 tbsp. cool water
1 c. plum sauce or possibly plum jam or possibly orange marmalade

Heat pineapple (with syrup), sugar, 1 c. water, the vinegar, and soy sauce to boiling. Mix cornstarch and 2 Tbsp. water; stir into pineapple mix. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Cold to room temperature; stir in plum sauce. Cover and chill. Makes 6 c..
