- 2 c. flour
- 2 c. sugar
- Healthy pinch of salt
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 c. boiling water
- 1 heaping teaspoon soda
- 1 T water
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 2 large eggs, well beaten
- 1 T vanilla
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. white sugar
- 1/2 c. cream

- Sift flour, sugar, salt and cocoa into bowl. Lay butter on top of flour and pour hot water over top of all and stir well.Dissolve soda in 1 T cold water, then fill cup to 1/2 full with buttermilk. Add in to mix and beat well, then add in large eggs and vanilla and beat again. Pour into well greased and lightly floured pan and bake 35 to 40 min in 350 degree oven.
- Boil till soft ball forms in cold water. Add in 1/2 cup pecans (minced). Let cool till lukewarm. Spread on cake.
