%20got%20this%20recipe.%20I'm%20sure%20it's%20funeral%20related.%20In%20fact..some%20of%20our%20favorite%20meals%20(esp%20casseroles)%20were%20found%20at%20funeral%20dinner%20tables.%20*shrugs*%20Either%20way...from%20the%20time%20I%20was%208%20years%20old%20until%20the%20time%20I%20was%2017%20I%20spent%20my%20summers%20in%20Indiana%20with%20my%20Grandparents%20(Granny%20and%20Papaw).%20Not%20a%20big%20deal?%20Well..kinda...we%20lived%20(and%20currently%20live)%20in%20Missouri..and%20it%20is%20a%20550%20mile%20trip.%20I%20think%20the%20first%20'stay'%20occured%20when%20I%20was%208%20b/c%20we%20were%20in%20the%20middle%20of%20moving%20from%20North%20Carolina%20to%20Missouri%20and%20so%20they%20parked%20me%20there%20for%20a%20couple%20weeks,%20but%20then%20I%20really%20liked%20it...so%20I%20was%20always%20excited%20when%20summer%20vacation%20rolled%20around%20b/c%20I%20knew%20a%20couple%20days%20after%20school%20let%20out%20I'd%20head%20east%20for%20the%20summer.%20And%20I%20do%20mean%20%22the%20summer%22.%20I'd%20usually%20leave%20a%20day%20or%20so%20after%20school%20let%20out,%20then%20I'd%20come%20back%20about%20a%20week%20before%20school%20started.%20I%20spent%20my%20summers%20being%20spoiled%20(within%20reason)%20and%20loved%20beyond%20measure%20by%20my%20awesome%20Granny%20and%20Papaw.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESomewhere%20along%20the%20way%20Granny%20started%20making%20this%20dessert%20(again,%20I'm%20sure%20someone%20died%20or%20something)-and%20as%20a%20kid%20I%20didn't%20appreciate%20how%20'good'%20this%20stuff%20really%20was.%20She'd%20make%20it%20and%20happily%20offer%20it%20to%20me%20and%20I'd%20wrinkle%20my%20nose%20and%20go%20back%20to%20watching%20Days%20of%20our%20Lives.%20My%20special%20Granny%20dessert%20is%20her%20Apple%20Stack%20Cake%20(which%20doesn't%20really%20have%20a%20recipe...and%20even%20WATCHING%20her,%20as%20in%20STANDING%20Over%20her%20while%20she%20makes%20it%20doesn't%20help%20b/c%20it's%20all%20in%20her%20head%20*sigh*).%20Anyway...geez%20I%20get%20even%20more%20rambly%20when%20I'm%20pregnant..um...4%20layer%20dessert..ok.%20So%20the%20other%20day%20I%20wanted%20something%20sweet.%20But%20not%20over%20the%20top%20sweet.%20And%20I%20wanted%20something%20easy.%20As%20much%20as%20I%20love%20and%20adore%20cupcakes,%20pies,%20layer%20cakes,%20etc....none%20of%20those%20sounded%20good..I%20needed%20quick.%20I%20needed%20familiar....I%20needed%204%20layer%20dessert...so%20I%20called%20Granny...and%20she%20relayed%20the%20recipe%20to%20me%20over%20the%20phone.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESince%20it%20IS%20a%204%20layer%20dessert%20I%20broke%20it%20into%20the%20ingredients%20for%20each%20layer%20and%20instructions%20for%20each%20layer.%20I'm%20sure%20alot%20of%20people%20have%20recipes%20VERY%20similar%20to%20this%20one..but%20this%20is%20the%20one%20our%20family%20uses.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20used%20my%20food%20processor%20for%20the%20first%20three%20layers...so%20it%20was%20awesome%20that%20basically%20I%20just%20dirtied%20that%20ONE%20thing%20and%20not%20a%20ton%20of%20different%20bowls.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBottom%20layer-(1)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECream%20the%20cream%20cheese%20and%20sugar,%20and%20mix%20in%20the%20Cool%20Whip.%20Spread%20on%20the%20COMPLETELY%20cooled%20crust.%20Are%20you%20getting%20sick%20of%20the%20cap%20on%20that?%20Sure..but%20it's%20really%20important..b/c%20if%20you%20don't%20let%20it%20cool%20when%20you%20add%20this%20layer%20it%20will%20kinda%20peel%20the%20crust%20and%20make%20it%20harder%20for%20you%20to%20put%20it%20on%20there.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENext%20layer-(3)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20small%20boxes%20(or%20one%20BIG%20box)%20instant%20pudding%20of%20your%20choice%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20cup%20milk%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMake%20the%20pudding%20as%20it%20says%20on%20the%20box%20and%20once%20it%20sets%20just%20a%20little-put%20it%20on%20top%20of%20the%20(2)%20layer.%20I%20had%20one%20BIG%20box%20of%20vanilla..so%20that%20is%20what%20I%20used.%20My%20Mom's%20favorite%20is%20lemon,%20and%20Granny's%20all%20time%20favorite%20is%20Butter%20Pecan.%20With%20all%20the%20different%20instant%20pudding%20varieties...this%20dessert%20has%20soooo%20many%20possibilities.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETop%20layer-(4)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemaining%20Cool%20Whip%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETop%20gently%20with%20the%20remaining%20Cool%20Whip%20and%20put%20in%20the%20fridge%20for%20at%20least%20a%20couple%20hours.%20The%20layers%20need%20time%20to%20get%20cold%20and%20get%20to%20know%20one%20another.%20This%20is%20a%20good%20one%20to%20make%20in%20a%20morning%20and%20then%20have%20it%20for%20dinner.%20Also...as%20long%20as%20it's%20covered,%20it%20stays%20good.%20It's%20almost%20better%203-4%20days%20later%20than%20it%20is%20the%20first%20day.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh...the%20topping%20in%20the%20picture...I%20added%20crushed%20graham%20crackers%20just%20for%20visual%20appeal.%20Idea...for%20this%20winter...chocolate%20pudding,%20then%20crushed%20peppermints%20on%20top...yum!%20For%20the%20summer..key%20lime%20pudding%20and%20graham%20cracker%20crumbs..see...endless%20possibilities!!!%20Oh..also..this%20would%20be%20really%20easy%20to%20make%20with%20less%20calories...I'm%20sure%20the%20fat%20free%20or%20low%20fat%20cream%20cheese/no%20sugar%20instant%20pudding,%20etc%20would%20work%20just%20as%20well!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
