  • 1 c. butter (2 sticks) plus extra for preparing pan
  • 1 c. brown sugar packed
  • 1 x egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 x lowfat milk chocolate bar (7-ounce.) broken in pcs
  • 1/2 c. toasted slivered or possibly sliced almonds

  1. Beat butter and brown sugar till light and creamy. Add in egg yolk, vanilla, flour and salt and mix. Spread in buttered 13x9-inch baking pan, and bake at 350 degrees utnil brown, about 20 min. Batter will rise and fall slightly. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with chocolate pcs, then spread chocolate proportionately as it melts. Top immediately with almonds and let cold completely. Cut into squares, and store in airtight container.
  2. Makes 24 bars.
